Today Only: Buy a Limited First Edition Lancome Oscillation Mascara

LAncome Oscillation Limited Edition MascaraLAncome Oscillation Limited Edition MascaraLAncome Oscillation Limited Edition MascaraLancome is releasing a vibrating mascara in December. But you can buy a limited first edition of it today only (July 31, 2008) at select stores. Visit the Lancome Website for details.

Supposedly this can also be ordered through Sephora, but when I checked a few minutes ago, it was not available and it was unclear whether the item was sold out or not placed up for sale yet. It could be ordered on the Lancome site though.

I also heard this morning on Sirius Satellite Cosmo Radio, that they would be giving some away throughout the morning.

Revlon Glimmer Gloss Nail Lacquer

Revlon Glimmer Gloss is a lightly tinted, glittery nail lacquer that can be worn alone or over regular polish. Personally, I like it over an opaque polish to add subtle extra shine and shimmer. In the picture, I am wearing the shade Strawberry Sizzle over Maybelline Salon Expert Nail Polish in Pink Splash (read review). The glimmer is hard to see in the picture though

The look can be rather fun, and Revlon has a number of shades, so there is likely a Glimmer Gloss that will layer well over almost any polish. Give it a try for a fun summer look in nail polish!Shop for Revlon Cosmetics

Bioelements Vitalization Body Creme

Bioelements makes many wonderful items, including one of the richest body creams that I have seen in some time. Bioelements Vitalization Rich Intensity Body Creme is lovely stuff. It is a creamy, thick lotion with a luxurious feel and high moisture factor. It also has a wonderful light aroma—the product of ten botanical oils (apricot kernel, olive, rice bran, grape, black currant, sunflower seed, bergamot, cardamom and clove). Red tea is also included as an anti-oxidant.

I find it great for dry skin, after shaving or waxing, or just for a silky soft feel! The tub is big too, with a full 8 ounces.Shop for Bioelements skin care products

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Everything You Need For a Perfect Brow

Anastasia has long been a powerhouse in the area of brow tools and cosmetics. So I was excited to give a bunch of items a try and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Anastasia has everything you need to achieve a perfect brow.

anastasia brow kit

First off, the tweezers are great. Next to Tweezerman, these are the best eyebrow tweezers that I have used, and they come at a decent price for the quality. Plus, they are pink!

Anastasia also offers brow stencils, which are a fairly unique item for shaping your brows. Available in either stick on temporary form or a thicker reusable plastic form, the stencil can be applied across the brow and filled with color to show what you should tweeze and what you should keep.  The stencils are available in various sizes and arch heights, so you can choose the one that works the best.  I found the heavier plastic ones easier to use than the lightweight temporary ones, and the low arch stencil seemed to fit me well. For those who have no idea where to begin shaping, the stencils are a good option.

For color, Anastasia offers a wide range of options, from pencils to powder duos. All that I tried were effective, nice to use, and in attractive packaging. The Anastasia Duo II Brow Powder in Medium Ash was my favorite and worked well with my medium blonde hair and light skin tone. The Brow Pencil was effective as well. The company also offers a series of very nice highlighting pencils, such as the Anastasia Eye Lights Shimmer in Petal, which is a beautiful soft pink highlighter.

5862XL For setting, I liked the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, and I really loved the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel (pictured), which had just a bit of warm sparkle to it that was perfect for a night out. I tried the tinted version in Carmel, which is a beautiful shade for golden and medium to dark blondes.

For those who want the basics all together, the Anastasia Five Piece Brow Kit (pictured) comes in various shades, with an attractive pink case that includes Tweezers, Brow Powder, Brow Stencils (Set of Four Shapes), One Duo Brush (Angled Cut/Spooley), and Brow Gel. Move up to the Anastasia Seven Piece Brow Kit to add Pre-Tweeze Gel and an Eye Light Matte Pencil. Those looking to fill in thin spots or to condition the brow, might also want to look at Anastasia Brow Enhancing Serum.  I might write more on that in the future after I try it for awhile.

Overall, Anastasia is one stop shopping for just about all you need in brow care and cosmetics!

The New Science of Perfect Skin by Daniel Yarosh, PH.D.

51ojhWE-N8L._SS500_ Daniel Yarosh, Ph.D. is a thirty-year veteran of the beauty business who comes from the development end of the industry. Among his accomplishments are the invention of new ingredients for brands such as Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, and Shiseido. Now he has an excellent book out, The New Science of Perfect Skin: Understanding Skin Care Myths and Miracles For Radiant Skin at Any Age, along with an accompanying skin care line, Remergent, from his laboratory, AGI Dermatics.

I will cover the Remergent line in a few weeks. For now, I want to focus on what I think is one of the best beauty books to come along in a great while—at least as far as skin care and anti-aging is concerned. The book provides a thorough and accurate overview of everything a person needs to know about skin, from protecting it, to treating its problems.

From the get go, Yaraosh tells it like it is, with early chapters on “Cutting Through the Hype,” and a glossary of product ingredients. He then painstakingly breaks down cosmetic products into chapters with explanations of what to avoid and why, and what to focus on for the best results. Each chapter includes specific product recommendations by brand across various levels of cost. Yarosh also provides a wealth of information on skin cancer and sun care, along with antioxidants and wrinkle treatments, including descriptions of various lasers and injections. The book also contains skin care regimes for men and children. Throughout the book, Yarosh does a nice job of recommending products that will do double duty by addressing multiple skin conditions at once—something I am quite a fan of.

Overall, The New Science of Perfect Skin is a book with a great deal of information, written for the everyday consumer. Wonderfully informative, to the point, and easy to read, it is a book that you can pick up, understand, and learn from without any specific scientific background. If you do have some background, you will find it to be a well informed and handy reference tool.

I recommend The New Science of Perfect Skin for any person who is concerned about skin care and who seeks to separate the products that have the most chance of success from those that are unlikely to work. Isn’t that most of us?
