Y.Y is a salon brand of hair and body products. I have been giving some of the hair products a try and I found them to be rather unique.
I have dry, color treated hair, so I tested a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioning spray.
The first thing I noticed about the products was the unique scent. These are earthy themed items that have a woody, botanical type of scent. The site says that there are some fruit top notes in some of them too, but I didn’t really detect those. In any event, the result is that they are pretty good unisex items. In fact, I found the scents to be rather manly. I’m an outdoors type, so personally I really liked it, but floral and fruit scent lovers might not care so much for the earthier scents.
The Agave Intensive Moisture Shampoo is a very low lather shampoo. And by very low lather, I mean VERY low. This can be great for color treated hair, since excess lather usually means that your color is getting stripped. At the same time, I kind of like a bit more lather in my shampoo. Regardless, it is indeed very moisturizing, and I had good results using it in combination with the next two items.
Driftwood Intensive Moisture Conditioner is a nice thick conditioning cream that left my hair very soft. It isn’t as detangling as some conditioners, but it did a sufficient job. Mostly I loved how it seemed to keep the frizzies at bay later.
Finally, Tallowood Spray Leave-in Conditioner is a nice spray conditioner with a good price point for its quality. I am a huge fan of leave-in conditioning and the good ones can get rather expensive. At under $20, Y.Y’s leave in conditioner is a good choice.
Y.Y makes a number of bath and body items as well. I’ll have a review of some of those in the future, so stay tuned!
