Elke VonFreudenberg’s The Model Brow Collection

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Elke VonFreudenberg is a makeup artist, brow specialist, and founder of the Beauty Blog Network.  She has also recently released her own line of brow products. They are well worth checking out!

The Model Brow Collection consists of a variety of products. I tried three: The Brow Tamer, Brow Pencil, and a Brow Highlight.

The Model Brow Pencil Elke

The Brow Pencil is good quality, and I love that the taupe shade I tried was not too ashy and not too dark. I always seem to fall in between one of those shades, and this item nailed it. A particularly neat feature of the pencil is that the cap has a brow brush attached. Very handy!

The Brow Tamer is a neat pot brow wax. Use your own brush or the brush on the pencil to apply it. It holds and “tames” well without being sticky or too heavy.

Finally, I tried a highlight, which was a nice light shadow shade for the brow bone. I tried the Canary shade, which went well with my neutral eye shadow looks. The collection also includes some interesting brow shadows.

Overall this is a really nice line of products. Next time you are in the market for brow items, give it a look!

Mascara Monday Review: Guerlain Le 2 de Guerlain Mascara

Monday, January 19th, 2009

This is an interesting one. Guerlain Le 2 de Guelain Mascara comes with two brushes. One normal sized one in the medium size range overall, and one shorter and slightly angled smaller one. Use the regular sized brush for your top lashes and the small brush for the lower lashes.

I really enjoyed this one. Guerlain’s mascara formulation was merely OK–no real clumping, but nothing outstanding in terms of length and such either.  But that smaller brush rocks for doing the lower lashes! Half the time I skip my lower lashes because, quite frankly, I am a klutz and end up smearing them. But with that small brush, even an uncoordinated person like me can turn out some decent looking lashes.

Guerlain gets a thumbs up from me on this one!
