Eyes By Design Blue Eyes Kit

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

I tried out an Eyes By Design Kit sent to me by the Home Shopping Network.  The Kit I tried, the Discovery Set, included a mini palette of four eye shadow shades formulated for blue eyes (there are also kits for green, brown, and hazel eyes), mascara, an eye cream, and a primer.

The items turned out to be of great quality. The eye shadow shades were perfectly suited for blues eyes, and the shadow wore very well, with no creasing and good color payoff. The primer was one of the better eye primers I have tried, and the eye cream is a nice thick cream appropriate for night wear.

What I liked best, however, was the mascara. Eyes By Design Volumizing Mascara does a great job of both thickening and  lengthening, without a clump in sight. Indeed, I even got sloppy and did not wipe the brush before applying (this really is a no-no) on several occasions and still did not get clumps. That is pretty impressive!

An Eyes By Design kit is featured in episode two of HSN’s series Faces of Beautiful You. In that episode, Nicki and Hallie marvel at Smith’s speedy preparation time for her big interview at a luxury spa. To see the kit in action take a look at the series!

Whenever Total Beauty has material for syndication available on mascara, I’ll try to include it with my Mascara Monday posts. As luck would have it ,they did have something for the inaugural week!

Take a look below for Total Beauty’s list of the best mascaras for length and volume. Of the items on the list that I have tried, I didn’t see anything there to disagree with. There are some quality items described there. In particular, I love the Lancome and Estee Lauder mascaras on the list.

Le Métier de Beaute Anamorphic Lash Mascara

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Le Métier de Beaute Mascara Welcome to Mascara Monday! This Monday brings a review on my new favorite:  Le Métier de Beaute Anamorphic Lash Mascara. Le Métier de Beaute is a high end cosmetic line carried at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman.

This mascara is simply incredible! It flows onto the lashes beautifully, lengthens with wonderful definition, seems to add a slight curl, and it does all of this without a clump in sight.  If it seems like I am raving about this one, well, I am! The packaging is also sleek and simple—something I rather like.

The mascara is available in black, but I was sent a navy blue shade to try. That was fine by me, because I also am quite a fan of blue mascaras. They usually do not look particularly blue on the lashes, but they really bring out the whites of the eyes and can make your overall look outstanding. Le Métier de Beaute’s blue is particularly nice.

Le Métier de Beaute mascara runs in the $34 price range, so it isn’t cheap, but I think this is one that is actually worth the extra cost. That is a rare thought for me when it comes to mascara.
