Mascara Monday: Benefit BadGal Lash

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Benefit BadGal Mascara BADgal lash mascara advertises itself this way: “With a big, bad brush and a rich, black formula, its like wearing a set of false eyelashes without the glue.” That is pretty accurate. The brush on Benefit BadGal is big and fat. That isn’t usually my favorite type of brush, but I was fine with it in the BadGal formula. Unlike with some big brush mascaras, I didn’t end up with lots of clumping from this one.

The formula allows for good length and a fair amount of volume. I had no issues with flaking or smudging, and the mascara removed just fine. Overall, if you like big brush mascaras, this is a good one!

Note too that benefit also makes there BadGal lash available in dark blue. Personally, I love blue mascara. It really brightens the eyes!

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Ultra Soothing Lip Tint

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I have reviewed this on Girl Gloss, but I like it so much that I am reviewing it again here (plus I just bought a new tube of it)!  I really love the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Line by Carmindy.  If I had to go with only drugstore one line to wear, it would be Natural Beauty. Their lip gloss: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Ultra Soothing Lip Tint is also about as good as it gets for a light tinted gloss.

Salley Hansen Natural Beauty Lip TintThe gloss comes in a squeeze tube. The texture is non-sticky and light, and the shine is very good. The tint is subtle and sheer, but it shows up and gives a light hue to the lips. Sally Hansen added a light flavor to the gloss with natural pomegranate and cranberry.

You can find the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty line at many drug stores and retailers such as Targer. I picked up mine at a CVS store. I have also found Natural Beauty makeup at Ulta.

MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask and Exfoliator

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

MAC Volcanic Ash Mask ExfoliatorMAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask iconis an interesting product. It is used on damp skin and heats up when it comes in contact with the water. So it feel warms as you rub it on. I have seen some complaints on various forums about the heating effect, but I rather liked it. The mask is quite hydrating, so I recommend it mostly for those with dry skin. One note of caution: It is very black! You probably want to use cheap cloths to wipe this one off. Or do what I did. Use it in the bath and  rinse it off in there.

MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator iconhas also made a return (read previous review), but this time in a tube instead of a tub–a welcome change for me! I absolutely love this scrub, and the tube makes it all the more easy to use. If you want a really good exfoliator, look no further than this one! It too is dark black—so use it in the shower!   This item (the tub version) was on my Top 20 of 2008 list.

Note: This review was based on products sent to me by the compnay. For more information, please see my disclosure page.
