Try A New Hair Cut or Style

When it comes to our hair, you may be reluctant to get your hair cut or change the way you wear it and keep the same look forever. Some women tend to get comfortable with the look that she already has, which can lead to a dated appearance. However, getting a new haircut can make a world of difference in how you carry yourself and the way that you feel about the world around you.

30 Days of Beauty, Day 7: Change Up Your Hair Cut or Try a New Hair Style

One the easiest ways to improve your appearance or to get a new look  is to change your hair.  But new hair cuts can also bring a level of uncertainty or stress.  If you are not quite ready to try a new cut, how about a new style?

Easy Hair Styles

One of the simplest ways to get a pain free new look is with a simple updo. Try this simple messy side bun from professional stylist Emily Hudspeth of Emily Hudspeth-Bringing the Beauty to You. It takes only 5 minutes!

Get a Blow Out

Another great way to get an easy new look, especially if you normally wear curly or wavy hair,  is to head to the salon for a blow out.   Alicia Mohr of Things to Cherish offers this product tip to help make your blow out last:

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk Non-Aerosol Spray $18 Dry Shampoo is one of the most useful beauty inventions. It adds volume and let’s you go a day or two without washing your hair (something that all stylists recommend, but few of us actually do…) I have tried 5 or 6 of these and this is the best by far. It’s not cheap, but if you use it a few times a week this will last for over a year. It’s perfect for long flights too!”

Alicia also loves  John Frieda Clear Shine Luminous Glaze  to tame her hair, stating that after using it:

“My hair is definitely shinier and smoother and my ends appear less dry and damaged. Plus, the Full Repair protects my hair from further damage due to heat styling. *** You can choose to leave it on for 3 minutes and rinse after you shampoo and condition your hair or do a weekly intense treatment in which you leave it hair for 20 minutes and then rinse. Three cheers for shiny hair without a trip to the salon!”

No matter what styling products you use or for whatever occasion,  Heather Adessa from *Gloss & Tell, and Makeup By Heather A. gives this great tip:

“When applying product to your hair, always start in the back of the head and move forward. That way you don’t get globs of product in the front of your head, which can cause greasiness and look dirty.”

Getting a New Haircut

Feeling like you need a more permanent change? Then perhaps you want to go for a new cut!

Before you decide on a new haircut, make sure you know the reasons behind the change and how it will affect you. Whether you’re going for a new look for a job, to spice up your love life, or because you just ended a relationship, a new haircut may be just the right move.

Most people go into a salon and leave it up to the stylist to decide what type of haircut would look good on them. It is not a bad idea to ask a stylist for suggestions, but you should at least have some idea of what type of look you would like to walk out of there with.

Spend some time looking through celebrity and hairstyle magazines to get an idea of the types of looks that are most popular. There are even online tools where you can see yourself in a virtual hairstyle which will show you what the haircut looks like before they actually begin cutting your hair. Bring in any pictures that you like so that the stylist can see what you would like your hair to resemble.

You should also decide what type of hairstyle best fits your personality and your lifestyle. If you have limited time in the morning to get ready for work, choose a style that’s simple and doesn’t take a lot of time to take care of. If you prefer longer hair, think about adding bangs and layers to give yourself a fresh look.

Before you try a new haircut, you should also take into consideration the texture of your hair. If you have fine and thin hair, go for a style with layers. This is a great way to add dimension and volume to your hair. For hair that is unruly and coarse, select a style for medium length hair that will be easy to manage.

We tend to get so caught up in our busy lives that we seldom do something special for ourselves. Getting a new haircut will have such a major impact on your life. A new haircut is a great way to bring a positive change to your life and the people around you. A different haircut is a new beginning and a way to make a statement about your individual personality whether you’re bold and daring or classy and reserved.
