The following is a reader review of the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Thanks Paulina!
A perfect eye shadow palette is hard to find, but Urban Decay has nailed it with their now staple product, the Naked palette. Incorporating a range mostly diverse neutrals, there is a wide variety of looks that can be created with this palette; anything from neutral to full-on smoky eye.
Coming in a sleek palette that includes a brush and some eye primer, this palette is perfect for travelling since it comes with most of the colors you would need. The shadows themselves range from matt, shimmer, to the unmistakably Urban Decay chunky glitter, lending themselves to a huge range of looks appropriate for many different occasions. The eye shadows have excellent color pay off since this is a quality brand, and the palette is very cost-effective considering you are getting twelve full-sized eye shadows that retail for $18, and a brush and primer.
There are hundreds of color combinations possible with this palette, anything from keeping it simple with Sidecar on the lid and Virgin as a brow-bone highlight, or dusting the glittery Half Baked for party feel, these colors will not disappoint.
Some cons of this palette include the possibility that it is not right for all skin tones. I, personally, found it to be very versatile and great on my own skin, but have heard conflicting reports that people with very fair skin don’t enjoy the colors as much. Another possible con of this palette is the fact that some of these colors are a bit heavy handed with the shimmer, which could be a turnoff to those who want something a bit less loud. But these are personal complaints rather than complaints about the product itself, which has excellent pigment and staying power, especially with the primer included.
All in all, the Urban Decay Naked Palette is one that singlehandedly satisfied most of my eye shadow needs. And although it seems a bit pricey, it is so worth it, the quality of the product speaks for itself and the amount of shadows will last you a long time.
