Expensive branded hair products work out great, sure. But what if you’re on a tight budget or you just noticed you have run out of your favorite conditioner or serum? Well, that perfectly alright, because you can get just as much shine, if not more, with these natural ingredients that can be found right in your kitchen or the nearest grocery store. Not only are these solutions cost effective, but they have no side effects that harsh chemicals might have!
A mayonnaise mask can do wonders for your hair. Mayonnaise is made from egg yolks, oil and vinegar/lemon juice. Since egg yolks are basically protein, and hair is mostly keratin protein, this strengthens the shaft and the oil conditions it and makes it shiny. Just apply it directly without rubbing too much in the scalp, wrap your hair in a shower cap or a plastic bag, and let it sit for an hour or two, and then wash it out with water. Shampoo as you would normally, and feel the difference afterwards.
Apple Cider Vinegar
After shampooing your hair, use apple cider vinegar as a rinse. For this, just add about 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to 1 liter of hair and pour it over your hair. This will give your hair massive shine, restore the pH of your hair, and help you get rid of flakes or scalp itchiness. Don’t use it too much though, and always dilute it, since it’s pretty acidic and can hurt your hair if applied directly. Once or twice a week is sufficient.
This is perfect as a leave in moisturizer since it’s such a light oil. Just rub it onto the ends of your hair after towel drying to combat split ends and tangles. It can work on both wet and dry hair.
