Beauty Essentials Must Haves to Take Into 2017…. With Special Guest Model Tanisha Marshall.

Happy Holidays beauty lovers! For the final Beauty Essentials of 2016 I am joined by my dear friend and fellow MMG model Tanisha Marshall. Today we are sharing our must have products. December is such a fun month and here in NY it is a magical winter wonderland, so let’s make sure we sparkle while we navigate this festive season.

One of my greatest finds in 2016 was the Tata Harper ‘Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint’. It glides on effortlessly and looks very natural while moisturizing your lips….you never know who you could kiss under the mistletoe so let’s be ready for our Prince Charming, if you don’t already have one! Wink. Wink. My go to shade is ‘Very Popular’ and I’m also loving ‘Very Naughty’ for that pop pow red…yeah it’s fun to be naughty! Tata Harper skincare delivers supreme results. The story behind these beautiful products is inspiring, they seek out the best, most effective natural ingredients from across the globe so you have peace of mind. Tanisha tells me, “My essential for make up is actually my primer I use before I put on my foundation which is actually Milk of Magnesia. I actually have really oily skin & it helps keep my make up intact for hours”. I agree. Primers make a huge difference in the application of foundation. I use ‘Skinfood’ by Weleda as my primer in the winter and I mix it with Kevin Aucoins ‘The Sensual Skin Enhancer’. I also like Tartes ‘Clean Slate Poreless 12 hour Perfecting Primer’ for warmer climates.

However a primer can only do so much, what should get the most attention is your skincare & how you love your skin. The goal should always be to create a flawless canvas. As Tanisha tells me, “What I have learnt as a model for glowing skin is to actually NEVER sleep with make up on. That is one thing I make sure I never do”. Can I just say AMEN!!! However tired you are – take that make up off before bed ladies. For myself I’ve found that making sure I drink enough filtered water is one of the greatest lessons I’ve learnt as a model for glowing skin. It’s all about the basics. You know my philosophy is beauty from the inside out! To compliment that philosophy my skincare must have from 2016 is the Tata Harper ‘Resurfacing Mask’ – it literally delivers an instant glow, helps minimize the appearance of pores and smoothes the look of the skin. Trust me on this product!

As models, Tanisha and I are expected to keep our hair as gorgeous as our skin so Tanisha (who has absolutely beautiful hair) shares the following, “Pantene shampoo & conditioner is my absolute must have. The keratin treatment is also a must for me. I only use one brand called Zelo Care, it works amazing on fighting frizz & keeping the hair luxurious & silky straight”. I’m definitely going to check this out…thanks Tanisha. I think my regular beauty lovers know what I’m about to say….yes…I will be taking Coconut Oil into the new year. I use it all over my body including my hair; as a body moisturizer, eye make up remover, face moisturizer and leave in conditioner for my hair. Talking of hair, I have to mention the benefits of a filter for your shower. I have been using a filter for one month now and I see the difference in my hair. It restores its natural luster resulting in improved body and shine as it removes the chlorine, dirt, sediment and odor from the water! Try it out. I brought mine at Bed Bath and Beyond.

So there you have it, that’s how we keep glowing. I really hope 2016 has been a great year for you all. I have to say it’s been my most rewarding year ever….I’m going to dance into 2017 with an open heart and open mind. Whatever your religion or belief, remember it all means the same – LOVE. So let’s celebrate love this season; loving ourselves and loving each other.

  1. I started buying facial wipes so I can very quickly get makeup off my face when I’m tired and want to pass out. I don’t ever sleep with makeup on, but it does speed the process some nights!

  2. When I was younger, I was the worst. I slept in my makeup all of the time. If I could, I’d go back and slap myself.
