5 Ways to Store Makeup

If you are anything like me, then you don't know where to put all of your makeup! Here are five tips to simplify your makeup storage

1. Create Your Own Lipstick Palette

Cosmetic tins

Beauty.com sells aluminum tin pans at a very affordable price. Take a spoon and scoop out the waxy lipstick. Melt the lipstick by holding the spoon a safe distance above a candle, making sure not to boil the wax. Pour the melted wax into the tin. Don't forget to label each tin with the lipstick brand and name. Place the tins in a Zpalette for easy storage

2. Store Your Eyeliner

Have a lot of eyeliners? Store them in ArtBin's clear pencil compartment. This is a great way to separate your dark eyeliner from your lighter colors. This is great for storing lip pencils as well.

3. Organize Your Polish

Store nail polish in The Container Store's Hobby Boxes here. The containers are clear, so you can see what polish you are reaching for. They are also not too big, preventing your polish from tipping over, which is generally bad as it can lead to messy spills and separation of polish compartments.

4. Keep Your Make Up Brushes in a Mug

Yes, I keep mine in a mug. I could buy a special jar for them, but why spend the extra money?

5. Depot Your Eyeshadows

Zpalette

Try depotting shadows and putting them in a Zpalette. Here is a simple way to depot easily. It requires parchment paper and a frying pan. Cut off a piece of parchment paper, big enough to protect your eyeshadow container from the pan. Turn your heat to medium and let the pan heat up for up to 3 minutes. Place the parchment paper carefully onto the pan and then place your eyeshadow container on it to melt the glue that hold the pan in the makeup pot or palette.  M.A.C. eyeshadows are often the easiest to remove using this method.

Where do you keep all your supplies without having to spend minutes scrambling into a bag to search for them?

Trish McEvoy Powder Brush #5 product review

A popular go to beauty brush is the handcrafted Trish McEvoy Powder Brush #5. The bristles are soft and crafted with 100% natural hair causing the brush to never feel rough on the skin. This brush is worth the investment and will blend your makeup evenly and flawlessly. This brush makes putting on loose powder and bronzer mistake proof.

Trish McEvoy Powder Brush

This brush is large dual purposed brush and can be used with both pressed powders like a blush/bronzer or loose powder. When using this brush in loose powder always make sure to lightly tap off any excess powder and apply the powder in a circular motion on your face. This brush is engineered with a flatter head so it will distribute the powder more heavily, this is why tapping the excess is essential. This is a larger brush so it is perfect for distributing loose powder all over the face. Since this brush is denser it can also be used for a mineral foundation.

With a pressed powder such as a blush, lightly tap the brush in the blush and make sure color is evenly distributed around the brush bristles. To apply blush with the Trish McEvoy brush smile so that the apples of your cheeks show and lightly sweep the brush over your apples in a circular motion. This will cause an evenly flushed look that will look flawless.

With proper care and washing this brush can last for years. I suggest not using a normal shampoo to clean this brush, but using a gentle face wash like Clinique’s Daily Face Wash or baby shampoo. Regular shampoo is too harsh and will shorten the lifespan of the brush and cause shedding. Since this brush is of a higher quality, it is essential to clean this brush regularly to maintain the softness and quality of the brush.

The Trish McEvoy Powder Brush #5 can be purchased at any high-end department store including Nordstrom.

Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 Review

This review of the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 comes from Callie Oliver. Thanks Callie for the review!

Brushes are a necessity in every makeup lover's collection. A quality brush can make your makeup flawless and evenly distributed. There's a lot that goes into the creation of a brush, and you simply do not get the same quality from a poorly made brush. The Sephora Airbrush #55 is a foundation brush that delivers an airbrushed look that is pure perfection.

Sephora Pro Airbrush #55

Technical Details

The Sephora Pro Airbrush #55 is made of synthetic bristles. These are super soft and high-quality fibers that pick up the right amount of product. The domed shape is perfect for getting every last bit of skin on the face. The shape and bristles promise a streak-free finish that is expertly blended and smooth.

Usage

I like that you can use this brush with cream, powder and liquid foundations. It works best with lighter formulas, but it still works with all others as well.

This brush works differently from other foundation brushes. To start using the brush, it is best to mist it lightly with a setting spray or water before using. Squirt a drop of foundation on the back of your hand and dip the brush into the foundation. Apply starting with the areas that need the most coverage. I tend to start with the cheek area and blend inwards. Other people start with the nose and blend outwards. Do what works for your skin and needs. Remember that there's no such thing as too much blending when it comes to foundation.

This brush works incredibly well for blending foundation in and making it look completely natural. An HD foundation works beautifully when paired with this brush for application.

Overall Opinion

The only issue with this brush is that it can be difficult to blend around the nose area. You have to press into the crevices around the nose a little more to get even coverage there. This brush is durable, easy to clean and works like a charm. The price is also reasonable for what it does and how it transforms your face.
