Smashbox Beauty in Bloom Kit at Nordstrom

Smashbox has a really pretty spring make up kit out that is available exclusively at Nordstrom: Smashbox ‘Glambox – Beauty in Bloom’ Kit, a $190 value for $68. I love the eye shadow shades in this kit. Although marketed as a spring kit, all of the shades are good basics that can be used year round.

MAC Warm and Cozy Collection

It seems like my inbox is already getting filled with spring collections, and yes, I know that the companies need to get that information out early, but it is still winter and, as much as I would like it to end (it is COLD in Chicago), it is just plain too early for me to be contemplating spring all that much. So, I particularly like MAC Cosmetics MAC Warm and Cozy Collection, which is perfect for post-holiday winter looks.

The collection focuses on warm/neutral shades that can give a nice natural, slightly seductive, and well…warm, look.

Particularly nice are the new MAC Shadesticks (pictured right). These pretty eyeshadow sticks have a nice luminous glow to the shades. The collection also has a couple of pretty new nail polish shades

Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow

Overall, Kevyn Aucoin is a quality line of cosmetics. Pricey, but quality. I purchased a Kevyn Aucoin: The Essential Eyeshadow Set and couldn’t be more pleased. The palette that I picked out (Palette #1) has five neutral shades that are perfect for everyday wear.

Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadow is finely milled, well pigmented, very blendable and very buildable. It is right up there with Dior in terms of absolute favorite shadow for me. It also is right up there with Dior in price. On the good side, there are five shades in decent size pans, so if you look at it that way, the shadows are actually pretty affordable—around $11 per shade. Estee Lauder Holiday Collection

Estee Lauder has some nice kits out for Christmas 2009. I especially like the brush kit. Estee Lauder brushes are attractive, and hold up well. The addition of a case with the set is rather nice.

Also rather pretty is the eyeshadow palette. It has an attractive holiday case and nice shades. Estee Lauder eye shadows tend to wear quite well, making the palette a nice holiday gift or simply a useful item for yourself.

Finally, the Holiday Blockbuster set is a $340 value that can be bought for $55 with any fragrance purchase.

Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection

Bobbi Brown Chrome is Bobbi brown’s 2009 Holiday collection. It features some neat and unique metallic shades. The eye shadows are quite different from other lines and the lip shades are extra metallic.The collection is below, along with a few other items that Bobbi Brown lists as “gifts,” and a couple of brush kits that I just had to toss in because Bobbi Brown makeup brushes are so darn good!

I recently looked at the Bobbi Brown Holiday Line in the store. If you like creative holiday looks or simply just don’t want your holiday makeup to look like everyone else, take a look at the Bobbi Brown Chrome Collection. It just might meet your needs.

MAC Cosmetics Holiday Collection

MAC Cosmetics’ holiday collection this year is very pretty. While last year was bold , with bright red cases, this year focuses on soft shades and pretty silver cases. The MAC Magic, Mirth, & Mischief Collection is particularly nice, with some beautiful new shades of Dazzleglass. Below is the full collection at Nordstrom, including the Nordstrom exclusive MAC Lash Kit. Note that many of the palettes and individual items have multiple shades available.
