Spring Makeup Look With Products From Target

Target is getting ready for spring with some featured products, and boy am I ready for it too!  I went to Target and grabbed a few of the products featured in the below video to do a new makeup look.

Nothing screams Spring to me more than bright fun colors, and I  love the new L’Oreal Colour Riche Quads, so I purchased one in the Brazen Bolds range called “Blue Haute Couture.”  I like that particular one as a transition to Spring because it has bright fun colors, but you can also still use it to create darker dramatic looks.

I applied the shades with a damp brush, focusing on the teal on my lid, pink/beige in the inner corner and on the brow bone, blue at the outside corner, and the deep green as a liner. Using a damp brush keeps fall out to a minimum and also keeps the colors bright.   Here is a closer look.

I also picked up a bright Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Vivid Rose. I don’t normally wear lipstick this bright, but I decided to give it a try and I ended up really, really liking it. If you like vivid shades, you will want to check out that entire line.

I also grabbed some CoverGirl Clump Crusher Lash Blast Mascara. I had been wanting to try this one after seeing so many good reviews. I ended up loving it. It indeed does not clump, and it gives really nice length and definition.

Here is my final overall look using the products. By total coincidence, I also recently got the shirt that I am wearing at Target!

LORAC Mint Edition Swatches and Review

The LORAC Mint Edition Palette offers a retro vintage look and feel. With 8 shadow shades, 4 matte and 4 shimmer, in soft feminine hues, a highlighter, and a blush, it delivers a nice package for spring.  Also included is a rose pink gloss in the shade Retro. This Mint Edition palette is an online exclusive at Sephora and there is a smaller LORAc Mint palette, with six shadow shades, the blush, and a different lip shade available here at Ulta.

This is Sephora’s photo of the LORAC Mint set:

Here are my photos and swatches.

The matte shades are very pretty, although I felt that they were a bit chalky.

The shimmers are good utilitarian shades.

The highlighter and blush are quite pretty. The blush in particular is a nice coral shades that reminds me a bit of Nars Orgasm.

LORAC Mint Highlighter and Blush

Here are swatches of the matte shades from the LORAC Mint Edition Palette.  I love these shades, but unfortunately, they are a bit on the chalky side for my tastes. I really was looking forward to the light blue, but it just came out too chalky for me. I might try doing a look layering it with a shimmer and see how it fares with that.

The shimmer shades in the LORAC Mint palette fared better for me. Here are swatches:

The gloss also disappointed me. The color and wear are great, but the applicator brush is small, hard, and sharp (seriously hard and sharp!).  I won’t use it simply because it is a bit uncomfortable to apply. Here is a look at the brush on the LORAC Retro gloss. That tiny little tip is all there is for an applicator.

Overall, I love the look of the LORAC Mint Edition set, but the matte shades left me a bit disappointed, as did the frankly terrible brush on the gloss.  If I was buying again, I would probably go for the smaller Ulta set over the Sephora one. Or, if you want some real quality LORAC items, go for the LORAC Pro and LORAC Unzipped palettes, which are some of the best shadow sets out there that you can buy.

MAC Archie’s Girls Strawberry Malt Swatch

I have been an Archie fan since I was young, and I always loved Betty and Veronica. So, I ordered up a few items from the MAC Archie’s Girls collection. One of the items I purchased was the Veronica themed Strawberry Malt Lipglass.

Here is a MAC Strawberry Malt swatch.  It is a nice berry red lipglass that matches up well with the Ronnie Red lipstick shade.

Grab the limited edition Archie’s Girls items while you can. I suspect that they won’t last all that long.
