Makeup Wars: Holiday Wish List

This week Makeup Wars presents their holiday with lists. Here is mine. I focused on some beauty items I have wanted for awhile, but then tossed in a couple of  fashion items from Nordstrom that I want as well.

Guerlain Precious Lights Radiance Essentials Kit:  I love Guerlian and this set has my favorites from them all packaged together!

Dior Celebration Palette: I always want the Dior holiday palettes, and this year the shades in the Celebration Palette are perfect for me!

YSL Pure Chromatics Palette: I ahve been dying to try these wet/dry shadows from YSL.

Guerlain Liu Eye and Lip Coreography: Inspired by Asian looks, this bold lip and eye palette is simply beautiful.

Sephora By OPI Gel Shine at Home System: I have been curious about Sephora's new gel nail system for use at home. This is a great gift set for giving it a go!

Napoleon Perdis Brush Roll Set: I love good brush sets and this one has everything you could need in its own brush roll.

Pandora Bracelet: I have wanted to customize my own Pandora bracelet for some time. A gift card or shopping trip to be able to do that would be awesome!

Marc by Marc Jacobs, Classic Q Baby Groovee Satchel: My last orange bag is on its last legs and I adore the looks of this one!

Diamond Eternity Band: Because I want more finger bling!

There it is! What do you want this holiday season? For more wishlists from the Makeup Wars group, click on through the links below!

Makeup Wars, Great Holiday Metallics

The Makeup Wars group is looking at holiday metallics this week.  I decided to go dig through my favorite source of metallics, MAC Pigments, and see what I liked in the gold and silver range. I also have a new Laura Mercier gold eye shadow that I just adore. Plus, as a bonus, I dug up a blast from the past with a look at white and gold holiday nails from the 2007 MAC Antiquitease collections.

Between these you could go for a neat holiday look such as this one from the 2007 MAC collection, which was one of MAC’s best holiday collections in my opinion. I think their holiday collections have become a bit more generic the past few years.

Metallic Pigments

Pigments are great for holiday metallics. The high amount of pigment allows for the shimmer to really show well. Apply them wet for even more color pop. Here are a few favorites from my stash.

MAC Pigments

Here are swatches of the pigments in the shades Reflects Antique Gold (a glitter), Silver Fog, Gold Mode, Rushmetal, and Blonde’s Gold.

MAC Pigment Swatches

Silver Fog and Blonde’s Gold are available in the MAC regular collection. The others were limited edition.

Laura Mercier Eye Shadow

For a beautiful limited edition shadow that you can get right now, check out the shade Gilded Moonlight from the Laura Mercier Art Deco Collection. This true gold is gorgeous and is packed with pigment.

Gold Holiday Nails

Metallic polishes are great for the holidays. In 2007 I copied the MAC Antiquitease nails by applying a flat white polish, followed by gold that was dabbed at with a paper towel. It makes for an easy to do nail art project.

I couldn’t find my old high res photo of it, but here is a smaller photo.

Makeup Wars: Favorite Mascara

The Makeup Wars group looks at favorite mascara this week. Mine was mentioned back in our Most Expensive Face Challenge, where I used  Le Metier de Beaute Mascara $34 (read my previous Le Metier Mascara review).

Le Metier de Beaute Mascara

I first received my Le Metier mascara from a representative of the company, and it happened to be in blue. At first I was not sure what I thought of that, but it turned out that I loved the blue mascara look. The mascara is simply amazing in that it glides on smooth, gives nice fullness and length and there is never a clump in sight.

Here is my photo from the previous challenge wearing it.

I also want to name a runner up. I used Clinique High Impact Mascara for the first time recently and really liked it, so I figured I would give it a shout out as well. It gave me a nicely defined and clump free look.

Below is a picture. The eyeshadow I am wearing comes from the awesome Disney Cinderella Eyeshadow Palette. (see my Cinderella Eye Palette Review and Video).
