My resolution this year is a pretty common one-lose weight and gain fitness. The fitness part isn’t too hard for me. The motivation behind it is that I began training this week for the Bayshore Marathon in May in Traverse City Michigan. So I am kicking off the new year with quite a fitness goal. This will be my 5th marathon.

But losing weight is trickier. Marathon training always makes me hungry, and I have eat enough to fuel my training, yet try to avoid lots of useless calories. If I can lose a bit of weight, not only will I look and feel better, but I might also run faster! So, I am going to try to cut calories this year but not cut nutrition. Basically, I need to give up empty calories.
