Fitness Friday: Running The Chicago Marathon for Charity

I am running the 2009 Chicago Marathon in October to raise money for PAWS of Chicago. PAWS is a large no-kill animal shelter that also has a spay/neuter clinic and feral cat spay and release program. I have agreed to raise a minimum of $600 for PAWS and certainly would like to raise even more! More about PAWS is available at my donation page.

A Couple of Pink Beauty Tech Items for October

Here are a couple of neat pink “tech” items for your October shopping. If you have been considering one of these and love pink or want to see a portion of your investment go to charity, here is your chance!

The CLARISONIC Skin Care Brush Limited Edition Pink, Breast Cancer Awareness + 2 oz Cleanser. I have yet to try the Clarisonic, but it gets generally pretty good reviews. The pink version is adorable!

The Nu Face Facial Toning System, Limited Edition Pink is an FDA approved device that uses microcurrent technology to lift and tone the face, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improve facial circulation, skin exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, treat sun damage and skin pigment, and improve product penetration. the NuFace Toner is another one that I haven’t personally tried.

Both are expensive, so if you plan to spend, you might as well assure that a bit goes to charity!

Pink Product: Surgeon’s Skin Secret Beeswax Moisturizer

I love, love, love, grapefruit scented products. So it is no surprise that I took a shine to Surgeon’s Skin Secret Beeswax Moisturizer in grapefruit scent!

Packaged in a cute pink and white tube, $1 from each sale goes to Breastcancer.org. The moisturizer is a skin balm made with beeswax and grapefruit extract. Leave a Comment to Raise Money for Cancer Charities

Comments for a Cure is here! For every comment I receive on Beauty and Fashion Tech and Girl Gloss between today (Oct. 13, 2008) and the end of Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2008), I will donate $1, with a cap of $50, to the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. The Walter Payton Cancer Fund was created by the Payton family to honor Walter’s life. After witnessing the ravaging effects of cancer on her husband, Connie Payton was determined to direct new research funding toward researchers seeking a cure with the same grit and determination that Walter showed on the football field as well as during his battle with cancer.

Connie chose Gateway for Cancer Research to administer the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. Its mission is to cure cancer through funding innovative research that has an immediate impact on cancer patients.
