A Couple of Pink Beauty Tech Items for October

Here are a couple of neat pink “tech” items for your October shopping. If you have been considering one of these and love pink or want to see a portion of your investment go to charity, here is your chance!

The CLARISONIC Skin Care Brush Limited Edition Pink, Breast Cancer Awareness + 2 oz Cleanser. I have yet to try the Clarisonic, but it gets generally pretty good reviews. The pink version is adorable!

The Nu Face Facial Toning System, Limited Edition Pink iconis an FDA approved device that uses microcurrent technology to lift and tone the face, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improve facial circulation, skin exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, treat sun damage and skin pigment, and improve product penetration. the NuFace Toner is another one that I haven’t personally tried.

Both are expensive, so if you plan to spend, you might as well assure that a bit goes to charity!

Pink Product: Surgeon’s Skin Secret Beeswax Moisturizer

BCAstick

I love, love, love, grapefruit scented products. So it is no surprise that I took a shine to Surgeon’s Skin Secret Beeswax Moisturizer in grapefruit scent!

Packaged in a cute pink and white tube, $1 from each sale goes to Breastcancer.org.   The moisturizer is a skin balm made with beeswax and grapefruit extract. The tube provides a good amount, and the twist up nature of it makes it perfect for applying to rough patches of skin without having to make a mess of your hands. It is nice stuff!

Surgeon’s Skin Secret is also available in an unscented version and numerous other scents.

Leave a Comment to Raise Money for Cancer Charities

comments for a cure Comments for a Cure is here! For every comment I receive on Beauty and Fashion Tech and Girl Gloss between today (Oct. 13, 2008) and the end of Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2008), I will donate $1, with a cap of $50, to the Walter Payton Cancer Fund.  So here is your chance to send money to a good cause simply by leaving a comment.

About the fund, from its website:

The Walter Payton Cancer Fund was created by the Payton family to honor Walter’s life. After witnessing the ravaging effects of cancer on her husband, Connie Payton was determined to direct new research funding toward researchers seeking a cure with the same grit and determination that Walter showed on the football field as well as during his battle with cancer.

Connie chose Gateway for Cancer Research to administer the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. Its mission is to cure cancer through funding innovative research that has an immediate impact on cancer patients. As a special fund of Gateway for Cancer Research, 100% of every dollar donated to the Walter Payton Cancer Fund goes toward cancer research programs.

You can also help out by donating directly. If you wish to do so, look in the left sidebar for the chipin widget. I am using that to raise additional funds for the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. All donations are certainly appreciated!

Other members of the Beauty Blog Network are also running similar comments for a cure promotions, so browse the blogs, leave comments, and help raise money for a variety of causes!

Lancome Fashion Focus Chicago Collection at Macy’s

I was unable to get downtown for Fashion Focus Chicago this year, but for you Lancome lovers in the Chicago metro area here is a bit of cool news:

In celebration of the Fashion Focus sponsorship, Lancôme will unveil a special makeup collection called The Fashion Focus Backstage Beauty Collection available exclusively at select Chicago Macy’s locations beginning September 20th until October 31st. A portion of the proceeds from the collection will benefit The Chicago Fashion Incubator (CFI), a fashion program that supports six emerging Chicago-based designers. CFI is a part of the Mayor’s Fashion Initiative, which supports and promotes fashion designers living and working in Chicago through events, seminars and city programs.

The Fashion Focus Backstage Beauty Collection was inspired by the women who walk the Magnificent Mile every day and features a beautiful range of chic and wearable naturals hand-picked by Lancôme’s Alex Sanchez. Products include: NEW! Color Design Palette in Golden Glitz $42.00, Color Design Blush in Freeze Frame $27.00, Color Fever Shine Lipstick in Femme Fire $25.00, Color Fever Gloss in Hotness $23.00, Artliner in Noir $28.00, Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee $23.50, Hypnôse Mascara in Black $24.00, Blending Shadow Brush # 17 $26.00.

The following Macy’s locations will carry the collection: State Street, Water Tower, Old Orchard, and Woodfield.

You can view some photos and swatches of the collection here.  I am going to Woodfield Monday and am tempted to pick up the palette and lipstick!

Japonesque Pink Go Curl Eyelash Curler

Japonesque has a full line of makeup and cosmetic tools and brushes. For October, they have released a neat little item, the Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Japonesque Pocket Eyelash Curler. This is a pink version of their regular Go Curl Pocket Eyelash Curler.

Japonesque Go Curl Pocket Eyelash Curler Pink

This cute pink curler is perfect for your purse or travel kit. A lever in the back flips down to operate the curer, which is pretty easy to use and has a good pad. The shape makes it slightly odd to use, but I loved the combo of the white pad and pink plastic.  It allowed me to easily see that I had all my lashes in the curler—something I have troubles with when using a regular eyelash curler. Indeed, aside from the charitable aspects, I recommend the pink version over the regular black one for that reason.

At $11, this is a good value item. 20% of the purchase price goes to the City of Hope Foundation.
