Guerlain Precious Lights Radiance Essentials Kit Review

I Bought ThisAffiliate Links

Guerlain makes some of my absolute favorite products for creating a flawless luminous look, especially Guerlain meteorites. Right now, they have available a limited edition collection, the Guerlain Precious Lights Radiance Essentials Kit.

Guerlain Precious Lights

the Guerlain Precious Lights set includes the following:

(1)  Precious Light Rejuvenating Illuminator: This light concealer has gold radiance pigment to blur the appearance of wrinkles and other issues by reflecting light. It also contains peptides to treat the skin.

(2) Guerlain Meteorites Perles Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer contains also reflects light and conceals blemishes with color correcting properties (generous trial size).

(3) Guerlain Meteorites Perles (my favorite) provide six colors to use as a finishing powder that creates a glowing look unlike anything I have achieved with other powders (generous trial size).

Here are photos from the set.

Guerlian Meteorites. I love these.

The Perles Primer. I find that it doesn’t color correct all that much, but it lends to the overall luminous glow that you can get when using these products together.

Here is a swatch of the Guerlain Illuminator. This rubs in to diffuse and reflect light.

Overall, this is a very nice set and it can be a great way to try these products without dishing out a ton of money for full sizes of the meteorites and primer. One caveat, the shades are geared for fair to light skin. They can be pretty forgiving, but I still wouldn't recommend the kit for anyone who doesn't consider themselves fair or light.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer Review

Below is a reader/guest review of Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer.

When it comes to bouncing back from dark circles, broken capillaries, sun spots and other blemishes, there is no concealer quite like Benefit's Boi-ing. Packaged in Benefit's cheeky signature containers, the makeup has an air of pinup glamour.

My beef with a lot of other concealers is that they don't get the formula right for those of us who are a good decade or more beyond our dewy college skin. Many brands tend to cake into fine lines, actually aging the face rather than taking the years off.
If you don't have a clean, silky base coat to begin with, no amount of makeup will help you look younger.

Boi-ing has a lush corn silk texture and really glides over the skin like gesso on a canvas, making a nice even palette for day or evening makeup. It manages to provide light coverage without sacrificing flaw-covering opacity. This product has been a staple in my makeup bag for five years now for that reason.

The formula is also forgiving, as it doesn't require excessive blending to look natural on your skin, which is great when you have limited time. It also works with many skin types -- including pesky combination oily/dry skin such as my own.

Boi-ing will keep eye shadow and lipstick from bleeding into surrounding areas on the face, even on the most humid days. This makes it a good choice for weddings and other formal events that require more dramatic makeup that will hold up to a variety of conditions. It also photographs well.

I used to be disappointed that the concealer came in such a limited palette, but Benefit has since expanded to include more skin tone matches.

Some my find its $20 price tag too hefty, but when you consider that you need so little each time it's well worth it.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation Review

Stila Stay All Day Foundation is a liquid foundation and concealer combo that also comes with an application brush. I was sent a set to try in Fair and I came away quite happy with the product.

Stila Stay All Day Foundation

The foundation is packaged in a glass bottle with the concealer in the cap.

The concealer cap also has a mirror, which I like.

Stila Foundation and Concealer

The foundation applied quite well for me using a stippling brush. In particular, it buffed out really nice. I did not use the brush that came with the set for foundation application. It really is too small for that, but it is rather effective as a concealer brush. The foundation feels silky and indeed did wear all day for me. The concealer is also a quality item, with good coverage and wear time. At $44 for the set, it is one of the pricier foundations, but once the concealer and brush are considered with that, it is a decent value.

My one complaint about the product, which might be a blessing in disguise later is this spoon on the bottle end of the cap. It is rather goopy and drippy when removed from a full bottle. However, I suspect I will appreciate it when the bottle is nearly empty. So I suppose I shouldn’t complain much!

Here I am wearing shade Fair of the Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer which is their level 2 shade. I am quite pale and Fair was about right for me. I normally wear level 2 or 3 of most foundations and have fairly neutral skin tones. For example I usually can wear MAC NC 20 and NW 20 equally well.
