Update: Vita Amazonia appears to no longer be in production, or at least is very difficult to find. For some really good replacement products, I suggest looking at the following skin care items as replacements:
I recently had the pleasure of trying a pair of Vita Amazonia Products. These products from Brazil have been quite popular there, and I have generally seen good comments about the company and their products on various beauty sites.I particularly loved the Vita Amazonia Revitalizing Creme with DMAE 5%. There are various views on the actual effectiveness of DMAE as illustrated by this article. One thing of note about the Vita Amazonia product is the high percentage of it at 5%. The product is also formulated with matrixyl, which also has reports of positive effects on the skin that are backed by some product sponsored studies. I was unable to determine the amount of matrixyl in the product.
Whether the general hype about these compounds is true or not, I can't really say. But what I can say is that the Vita Amazonia DMAE cream is wonderful. It feels great, it moisturizes very well, and I saw a noticeable difference in my skin immediately after using it. As a nighttime moisturizer, it had the thicker consistency that my slightly dry skin likes, yet it absorbed very well. No leftover greasiness with this stuff! The results were immediate too. My skin really did look firmer and felt great each morning after I used it. I scraped the little sample tub I had dry and am planning to purchase a full size product. The only downside is the cost. At around $85, it is a bit expensive, and I question whether the cost is necessary since the ingredients are not necessarily all that expensive. But I sure do love the stuff! This honestly could be the perfect night cream for me!
I also tried the Vita Amazonia Renewal Creme Gel. Although labeled as a gel, this is really a day lotion containing matrixyl that felt comfortable and did a pretty good job moisturizing. I was happy with this product, and its price is much better than that of the night cream. But since I generally only use day creams that contain SPF, which this product lacks, I don't know that I would purchase it.
Finally, a product that I did not try but am curious about, is the Vita Amazonia Eye Gel. The combination of the ingredients of isoflavon, liquorice and asafetida in this gel interest me. If anyone out there has tried it, let me know what you thought of it!
