Three Affordable Bright Eye Looks For Spring With Products From Target

Spring is coming. Although I sure wish it would get here now! To help it along, here are 3 bright and bold eye makeup looks and how you can get using affordable and easy to find products at Target.

Bold Ocean Blue

Bold Eye Look

Get this gorgeous and daring look using Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows, with a dab of L’Oreal infallible Eyeshadow at the inner eye. The key to this look is to graduate the teal into the blue, with the blue staying predominate, and then add purple to the brow bone with very little blending. Line the lids with a black liner, and get full gorgeous lashes with Sonia Kashuk Full Glam Eyelashes.  Add a vivid lip color to your lips, such as one of the Maybelline Sensational Vivids, to round out this bold spring look.

Fuchsia and Teal

L'Oreal Bold Eye Look

Get this look with the teal and fuchsia shades in the pictured L’Oreal Colour Riche Quad. Place the teal color on the upper lid,and blend to slightly above the crease. If you prefer more blue than teal, try the Color Tattoo from the first look instead.  You can highlight the brow bone with the light shade in the quad and blend it with the fuchsia to obtain the pink shade in the photo. Line the eyes with Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Liner, and get beautiful lashes with CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara. I am seriously in love with that mascara!

Daring Yellow and Coral Orange

Maybelline Daring Eye Makeup Look

Finally, you can get this unique and bright look using the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Quad.  Apply the coral shade to the lids and slightly above the crease, building it in intensity at the outer edge. Use a damp brush to get the most vivid results. Apply yellow to the brow bone and, using a press or liner brush, apply the plum shade under the lid, sweeping it up to form a cat’s eye. Line the lids with Sonia Kashuk Jet Set Liquid Liner and grab that ClumpCrusher Mascara for perfect lashes.

I love all three of these looks and, best of all, they are all super affordable with items that you can find easily at Target!

Spring Makeup Look With Products From Target

Target is getting ready for spring with some featured products, and boy am I ready for it too!  I went to Target and grabbed a few of the products featured in the below video to do a new makeup look.

Nothing screams Spring to me more than bright fun colors, and I  love the new L’Oreal Colour Riche Quads, so I purchased one in the Brazen Bolds range called “Blue Haute Couture.”  I like that particular one as a transition to Spring because it has bright fun colors, but you can also still use it to create darker dramatic looks.

I applied the shades with a damp brush, focusing on the teal on my lid, pink/beige in the inner corner and on the brow bone, blue at the outside corner, and the deep green as a liner. Using a damp brush keeps fall out to a minimum and also keeps the colors bright.   Here is a closer look.

I also picked up a bright Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in Vivid Rose. I don’t normally wear lipstick this bright, but I decided to give it a try and I ended up really, really liking it. If you like vivid shades, you will want to check out that entire line.

I also grabbed some CoverGirl Clump Crusher Lash Blast Mascara. I had been wanting to try this one after seeing so many good reviews. I ended up loving it. It indeed does not clump, and it gives really nice length and definition.

Here is my final overall look using the products. By total coincidence, I also recently got the shirt that I am wearing at Target!

Sephora Natural Instincts Swatches and Review

The Sephora Natural Instincts Palette has been getting good reviews on the Sephora website. But I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it offers 14 shades at a nice price ($28). However, there were various issues I had with it that I’ll detail after the initial photos.  The palette itself looks quite attractive in photos. Here is Sephora’s picture of it.

In reality, this is a rather thick palette, measuring half an inch to a three quarters of an inch thick, which struck me as odd. Here is my photo, although I never caught one showing how thick the thing is.

When I swatched the Natural Instincts shades, a couple of this jumped out at me. First, some of the shadows were softer than I would like, with a lot of fallout, yet others were on the hard side. So that was perplexing. Next, two of matte shades seemed lacking in pigment a bit, but the others and shimmers were quite well pigmented. So again, the inconsistency was odd. Finally, these are very cool toned shades, even among the items that would be viewed as neutral. Almost everything has a cool undertone, so those of you who like warm shades might want to skip this one. Finally, the blue shades had a gray cast to them that I don’t necessarily dislike, but don’t love either.

Here are swatches of the Sephora Natural Instincts Palette, top row. The second from the left is one of the shades that was both hard and under pigmented.

Here are the bottom row swatches. The first shimmer was softer than I would like and the third from the left was another matte that lacked pigment a bit.

Overall, I am OK with the Sephora Natural Instincts palette, especially at the price. But it is definitely more for cool or neutral toned skins and it isn’t perfect.  Still, it is a decent value, especially if the shades are of interest to you.
