Amazing Cosmetics Mineral Makeup Makeover
I prefer pressed mineral makeup and also like to avoid bismuth, but finding a bismuth free pressed mineral makeup can be difficult! My favorite had been Sephora Brand, but when I went to refill mine, they told me that it was being discontinued! Awhile later, I was at Ulta and walked around checking the ingredients on all of the makeup brands and found one, just one, that had a pressed mineral makeup without bismuth. That was Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Pressed Powder Foundation. The Amazing Cosmetics rep happened to be at the store, so I had my whole face done, which allowed me to try a few other items as well.
Coverage with Amazing Cosmetics Mineral Makeup was pretty good. Apply it with a brush for sheer coverage, use the included pad for medium, or as the rep showed me, try a makeup sponge for more full coverage. It builds pretty well too, so I can apply it sheer to medium on most areas and then put extra over my areas of melasma. The selection of shades is not huge, but is OK, and the packaging is nice, with a mirrored compact. I found that it wears very well. I get most of a day out of it, which is more than I often get from powder mineral makeup. So, this is a winner, which is good since it is one of the few bismuth free pressed mineral foundations out there (Neutrogena and Jane Iredale also make bismuth free pressed mineral foundations and if you want a good bismuth free powder mineral makeup, check out Purely Cosmetics).
Anyway, like I said, I had the rest of my face done, and I liked Amazing Cosmetics overall. Here is the look, using Amazing Cosmetics Suede Eyeshadow Collection in Wheat, a couple of fabulous lip products, Amazing Cosmetics Lipcolor
in Oliva and Amazing Cosmetics Lipgloss
in Kathy, and a new favorite blush for me, Amazing Cosmetics Blush Matte
in Pink Chocolate. All wore wonderfully, and I ended up buying the lip products and the blush to go with the mineral foundation. You can read more about the lip products in my review here on Girl Gloss: Amazing Cosmetics Lip Products. This picture also ended up being used for my Open Sky Store.
Overall, I was quite glad that I tried the Amazing Cosmetics brand. They have quality products all around.
You can find Amazing Cosmetics at Ulta and Sephora.

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Ultra Soothing Lip Tint
I have reviewed this on Girl Gloss, but I like it so much that I am reviewing it again here (plus I just bought a new tube of it)! I really love the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Line by Carmindy. If I had to go with only drugstore one line to wear, it would be Natural Beauty. Their lip gloss: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Ultra Soothing Lip Tint is also about as good as it gets for a light tinted gloss.
The gloss comes in a squeeze tube. The texture is non-sticky and light, and the shine is very good. The tint is subtle and sheer, but it shows up and gives a light hue to the lips. Sally Hansen added a light flavor to the gloss with natural pomegranate and cranberry.
You can find the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty line at many drug stores and retailers such as Targer. I picked up mine at a CVS store. I have also found Natural Beauty makeup at Ulta.

Calvin Klein CK Lip Gloss
I got a little tube of Calvin Klein CK Lip Gloss in my Sephora Favorites Get Pink’d Pink Lip Deluxe Sampler. I loved the sampler, and most of the products in it, but I didn’t care all that much for this gloss . It was sticky, sticky, sticky! It had a very nice pink tint, but did I mention that it was sticky?
Then I had a sense of dejavu. I had reviewed a different (but similar) CK gloss once for Girl Gloss. Guess what? That one was sticky too!
I love the over all Sephora sampler though. They have a number of different favorites sampler and all are a great way to test a number of products at a great value.

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Shadow and Tropical Fusion Look
CoverGirl has some wonderful new Eye Enhancer shadow shades out and some great looks can be created with them. I watched a webinar presented by CoverGirl and will show one of the looks that be created from the Tropical Fusion CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Set (pictured).
Below are swatches from the quad. The second color from the right is a mix of the turquoise and yellow shades in the quad, which makes a pretty light green as used in the look below.
First off though, a bit about the shadow: The CoverGirl shadows are pretty good in terms of pigment. These have a nice color payoff and staying power that you normally won’t see in such an affordable shadow. When I swatched these, it took a bit of work to wash them off! So they are a really nice value. They also have some wonderful bright shades, so if you aren’t afraid of some color, you will find great choices at a bargain price.
One of the fun looks that can be made with the Tropical Fusion is called Caribbean Eyes.
To create this look, apply the turquoise shade to the lid. The CoverGirl shadows build well, so you can make this rather sheer or you can build up the crease more, as you desire.
Now, add the yellow shade over the top of the of the turquoise. I like to use more of it in the center of my lid than the sides for a pop of color there. Blended well, this will give a pretty light Caribbean green look that is really rather luminous—more so than the swatch picture shows.
The eye is lined with the royal blue shade. Work it in with a press brush and then smudge it out some. You can wet the shadow for a finer line or more intense look.
The peach shade in the quad can be used as a blush, especially on darker skin. It is not really as orange as it appears in the quad, but it does have quite a bit of pigment–a bit too much to use as blush on my fair skin, but it would be fine on medium to dark shades of skin.
The lips were done in CoverGirl Amazemint Happy Hour, which looks blue in the tube but is actually clear, with a nice cool tone and taste. For more on the CoverGirl Amazemint glosses, which contain Crest peppermint oils, see my review on Girl Gloss.
CoverGirl cosmetics can be purchased at virtually all drugstores and big box retailers.
