Julia’s Lip Tint

I love lip stain. It is one of the best ways to get long wearing lip color without your lips feeling dry or goopy. Forget those long wear products at the drugstore and go for a stain instead with a gloss or balm over the top. It will be more comfortable, last longer, and look better! A great choice for this is Julia’s Lip Tint.

Julia’s Lip Tint is an indie brand with a multitude of shades. That alone makes them great, because so often lip stains come in only a few shades. But beyond that, this stain wears particularly well. I was sent a few samples to try and the tint lasted better than any stain I have ever tried. At $14.95/bottle it is very economical as well.

Below is a swatch of Truly Yours Red, a nice basic red that would work with most complexions.

I also tried sample sizes of Coralesque and Plum Terrific.

Each bottle comes with an applicator, or you can simply use a cotton swab. These are especially good for summer since they wont sweat off. In fact, I'm willing to bet that you could swim with this stain and it would stay on!

Red lips made a statement last year, but 2013 is definitely the year of pastel shades like lilac, periwinkle, marigold, teal and violet. Wear minimal eye makeup to ensure the lips are the main focus, undoubtedly demanding a double-take. For the ideal fashion-forward look, pair the stunning pastel lipstick with only mascara on the eyes and rose-tinged cheeks.

Laura Mercier Mulberry Lip Stain Swatch and Review

Laura Mercer lip stain is a nice cross between a stain and a super tinted balm. The product has great pigment, but it doesn’t fee drying.

The shade Mulberry is featured in the 2013 Laura Mercier Arabesque spring collection.

Here is a swatch of Laura Mercier lip stain in the shade Mulberry. This is a shade that would complement many different skin tones and it works nicely as a winter to spring transition shade with its darker, but still universally wearable, shade.
