Kat Von D True Romance Eye Palette Ludwig Tutorial

Here is a Kat Von D tutorial on achieving a soft “saint” look using the Kat Von D True Romance Ludwig Eye Palette. I love the Kat Von D eye shadow palettes. They have very nice choices in shades and the makeup quality is quite good. I also find them to be a pretty good value as far as palettes go.  This video also features a different use of Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer, where she uses it as a regular makeup concealer under her eyes.

Here is a transcript of the video:

As a woman you should have the right to look however you want whenever you want. The Saint look, as far as makeup goes, definitely brings out the softer side.

I think the Tattoo Concealer definitely helps out with the saint look. Once we developed this formula which I'm in love with, I realized that it wasn't just for tattoos. I think the best form of application for this tattoo concealer would have to be the Tattoo Concealer Brush  to cover up dark circles or blemishes.

For the Saint look, I’m definitely going to be using the Ludwig palette. It’s the first palette that I ever put together and it’s still my number one favorite. I like to start using the color Leather, it’s the darkest brown color of the palette. I’m just blending a little on the outer edges of the eye, and it works as a good beginning point.

The next step, I would want to use the color Baroque.  This is actually my favorite color in the entire line for me. This will also create a lot of depth using it in the crease of the eyelid.

Once we’re done with that I’ll jump into the highlight and using Tequila I think is a great choice, especially with this palette. One of my favorite tricks is to go back in and use the color Clay to blend all of it together.

I think for the saint look, using the Tattoo Liner would be the best way to do it, and I’m going to use the color Trooper. Using High Frequency Mascara in Lucifer I think makes a really good match.

A good new lipstick to use would be either Love Craft or Ritual. I think the perfect way to finish the saint look is the Lightening Liplgoss Hustler. I think it makes a perfect sparkly combination.

The beauty really is derived from just the naturalness of the look.

5 Must-Do Make Up Trends for Spring 2013

Here are five things to try this spring.

Play with color

From eye shadows to liners and tinted lip balms, strong colors can be applied with a subtle touch. Try a strong purple lightly heathered in the crease, just below your brow bone. Directly above your lash line, add some sparkle with a nude shimmer. When night falls, reapply your dark purple shade and add a thick line of black above your lash line. Better yet, get precise with a violet liner and trace the thick black line, highlighting your love for spring.

Tightlined Lashes

Before you go out and add that thick line of eye liner, try tightlining for the work day. To tightline your lashes, gently lift your upper eyelid. Using your eye pencil of choice, lightly color in the pale places between your lashes. That's right: you are filling in your upper inner eyelid with color. This technique adds a thickness to your eye lashes that leaves your eyes open and fresh.

Get New Foundation and Bronzer

Spring is all about a new beginning, so show off your best layer of skin. Revisit your foundations and bronzers. Throw out the old ones and only use those that match your skin perfectly. Go for something a little lighter as a foundation. Using a large blush brush, skim the skin with a warm bronzer that includes reds and pinks. Focus on the apples of your cheeks and carry it up to your temples. Don't forget your nose and chin! Sun kissed and awake is your goal and the sun kisses all of you (not just your cheeks).

Get Beautiful Spring Lips

Lips should never be ignored. Pale pinks and nude shades will brighten your face and create a welcoming look. This look is always in for spring.  Another spring 2013 trend is vivid lips using bright lipstick shades. Also, keep your lips moisturized and protected with SPF!

Liquid or Cream Blush

Looking for a good blush to bring it all together? Choose a liquid tint or cream blush but don't smear it on; instead, rub your index and middle finger into the blush and then tap your cheek bone lightly and rapidly. Layer this way until you achieve the look you want. This slightly flushed look is a perennial spring trend.

Gear and up and get ready! Spring 2013 is almost here! Follow these tips and you are sure to look your best!

5 Ways to Store Makeup

If you are anything like me, then you don't know where to put all of your makeup! Here are five tips to simplify your makeup storage

1. Create Your Own Lipstick Palette

Cosmetic tins

Beauty.com sells aluminum tin pans at a very affordable price. Take a spoon and scoop out the waxy lipstick. Melt the lipstick by holding the spoon a safe distance above a candle, making sure not to boil the wax. Pour the melted wax into the tin. Don't forget to label each tin with the lipstick brand and name. Place the tins in a Zpalette for easy storage

2. Store Your Eyeliner

Have a lot of eyeliners? Store them in ArtBin's clear pencil compartment. This is a great way to separate your dark eyeliner from your lighter colors. This is great for storing lip pencils as well.

3. Organize Your Polish

Store nail polish in The Container Store's Hobby Boxes here. The containers are clear, so you can see what polish you are reaching for. They are also not too big, preventing your polish from tipping over, which is generally bad as it can lead to messy spills and separation of polish compartments.

4. Keep Your Make Up Brushes in a Mug

Yes, I keep mine in a mug. I could buy a special jar for them, but why spend the extra money?

5. Depot Your Eyeshadows

Zpalette

Try depotting shadows and putting them in a Zpalette. Here is a simple way to depot easily. It requires parchment paper and a frying pan. Cut off a piece of parchment paper, big enough to protect your eyeshadow container from the pan. Turn your heat to medium and let the pan heat up for up to 3 minutes. Place the parchment paper carefully onto the pan and then place your eyeshadow container on it to melt the glue that hold the pan in the makeup pot or palette.  M.A.C. eyeshadows are often the easiest to remove using this method.

Where do you keep all your supplies without having to spend minutes scrambling into a bag to search for them?
