Mascara Monday: Maybelline Lash Discovery

MAyb mas Maybelline Lash Discovery is one of my old favorite mascaras. Before I ended up getting so many different kinds of mascara in order to test them, it was the one that I bought over and over again.

My favorite thing about Maybelline Lash Discovery is the small brush. I find that it makes precise application easy and there is less risk of clumping. Getting those corner lashes is a breeze with this one. The formula allows for good basic lengthening. It isn’t going to be super dramatic or curling or any of those things—just nice clump free length. The mascara has always worn well for me and it removes easily. Overall, it is just a good drugstore basic that has been around for some time and hopefully will continue to stay around!

Mascara Monday: Almay One Coat Nourishing and Lengthening Mascara

Unfortunately my test of Almay’s One Coat Nourishing and Lengthening Mascara did not go so well for me. I have read some good reviews of it (total beauty readers seem to love it), and found it to be serviceable, but I’m not crazy about it.

The mascara applied OK with one coat, but had a few clumps, even with careful wiping of the brush. I got OK length from it and it did wear well in terms of no flaking throughout the day. Removal was fine. The down side though was that I wanted a bit more length and used a second coat. At that point it really clumped.

I thought the overall formulation seemed rather thick. That did make me wonder if I got an older tube or something—or if it is always that thick—which is what I think caused all the clumping.

Mascara Monday: Best Drugstore Mascaras

Today’s Mascara Monday is a list of the best drugstore mascara syndicated from Total Beauty. I agree with some items and not with others on their list. For example, the Almay mascara listed was a bit clumpy for me and smudged (I’ll have a review up on it in a few weeks). But number 9 on their list, L’Oreal Telescopic, is one of my favorites (read previous review). I also particularly like Maybelline’s Lash Discovery, which has been a staple mascara for me for years. I haven't tried a good number of the other ones on the list. I will have to work on correcting that!
