Mascara Monday: Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper is essentially the same mascara as CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara. I happen to like both quite a bit and the CoverGirl one is sometimes cheaper.

This mascara provides good volume and decent length and definition. I haven't had clumping issues with it. Mostly it’s focus though is on volume with a decent amount of length as well. I find the thick tube a bit odd (it just feels fat to me), but if that is my only complaint, then it must be a decent mascara!

The brush is average size, with no real taper, and the mascara wears well without flaking. Despite the lack of taper to the brush, I am able to do my lower lashes OK with this one. But I could see that bothering some people.

Of the various drugstore mascaras, this is one near the top of my list. Just be sure to see which mascara is cheaper or might be on sale when you buy. CoverGirl Lash Blastor Max Factor 2000 calorie.

Review: Max Factor Lash Perfection

A few weeks back a reader asked me if I would review Max Factor Lash Perfection Mascara. As luck would have it, shortly after that request I came across Max Factor products hugely discounted at my local Osco store. I'm a sucker for a sale, so I picked one up.It seems that the hot thing in mascara marketing recently is some sort of technological gimmick. I use the term "gimmick" quite on purpose because I generally have not found any of these supposed technological advances to add anything to the products. In fact the flexible brush in Maybelline Define a Lash annoyed the heck out me. Nor was I overly impressed with the "tubing" of lashes in Blinc's Kiss Me Mascara, although I did find it interesting.

Max Factor's claim with Lash Perfection is that flexible bristles in the brush create "fabulously defined lashes." Initially I was afraid that the brush stem would be flexible like the annoying wand that comes with Maybelline's Define a Lash. I really wasn't looking forward to having to cram a flexible wand back into the tube. Fortunately the wand on the Max Factor product is nice and firm, so no issues there.

Yes, the bristles seem flexible. Does this add anything to the mascara? My opinion is that it does not, but it doesn't really detract from it either. The mascara was simply OK for me. I like smaller bristles, which this one has, so that made me happy. The color was rich and it applied pretty well. I still had a bit of clumping though, and I found that it did not lengthen as well as my current favorite, Cover Girl Lash Exact. I will certainly use up the tube, and because I got it at almost half price, I feel like I got a good value. But this one doesn't jump out at me as anything special based on the brush technology. For me it is just another acceptable mascara. If you find it on sale, it can be worth it, but at full price I recommend Cover Girl Lash Exact. Or if you prefer a bigger brush, check out Revlon's Fabulash.
