DDF Moisturizing Dew

DDF Moisture DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew provides light oil and fragrance free moisture with antioxidant Grapeseed extract and Vitamins A, C, E. It is free of acne causing ingredients, and a tiny amount is sufficient to give light moisture to the entire face.

I have been using DDF’s Moisture Dew for some time and find it perfect when my skin is on the oily side. Although when I am dry, I need something a bit heavier. This is by far, my all time favorite moisturizer for oily skin and acne treatment, and it comes highly recommended for those who need some light moisture as part of an acne treatment system.

DDF products tend to run a bit on the expensive side. However, the amount of product needed is tiny, making it more of a value than it seems. There are some decent drugstore light moisturizers, but I have yet to find a comparable drugstore product than can provide oil free moisture in a formulation that is as light as this one.

Prescriptives Px Vibrant-C Skin Brightening Lotion Moisturizer

Prescriptives Vibrant C Lotion Moisturizer Hyperpigmentation Melasma

Many people think of foundation when they think of Prescriptives, and they do indeed have great foundation. I highly recommend getting color matched if you have not done so before!

But Prescriptives also makes some great skin care items in their Px line. I have previously used their skin tone correcting serum, which I think is now discontinued, and I love the PX intensive Rebuilding Moisturizer.

Based on my past good experiences, I was pretty happy to have the chance to try out Prescriptives Px Vibrant-C Lotion. This light moisturizer reminds me quite a bit of the skin brightening serum, which also focused on Vitamin C, except that it comes in a lotion form. The product has a good vitamin C tingle, which if anything like past Prescriptives Vitamin C products, should be fairly stable and do a decent job of actually brightening the skin and lightening mild melasma or hyperpigmentation. Because it is a moisturizer, it also can be used nicely over other skin lightening serums for creating a combination approach to melasma treatment. For example, I have been using it over my favorite treatment cleanser and serum from PCA Skin Care. It makes for a very nice combination, especially if you like using both serums and lotions.

As a light lotion moisturizer, Vibrant-C also stands out. I found that it absorbed quickly and completely, with only a small amount needed to get the desired effect of adding some light moisture. I suspect that I will be purchasing more of this product when the bottle that I was sent is empty.

Prescriptives has also added a skin brightening moisture cream to the line if you need a higher amount of moisture. They offer a skin brightening eye cream as well. Prescriptives can be found online at various department stores. For example, I usually get their products at Macys.

I also am trying Prescriptives Intensive Rebuilding Moisture-Rich Cleanser. So keep an eye out for a future post on that!

Cetaphil Cleansers and Moisturizer: Top Quality and at Bargin Price

Cetaphil CleanserCetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a cult favorite cleanser and an Allure Magazine Best of Beauty award winner for a good reason: It is one of the best cleansers out there, yet comes at an incredibly affordable price.

A container of Cetaphil is usually several times the size of other cleansers and makeup removers, but at $10-12, it sells at a fraction of the price. I love Cetaphil, and tend to alternate between it and DHC’s Olive Oil Cleanser as my daily facial cleanser. The cleanser is gentle and provides a soothing and slightly moisturizing wash. It removes makeup well and does not dry the skin. For anyone with sensitive skin, this is the perfect cleanser. It is also great for anyone who wants an affordable, effective, and comfortable cleanser.

Cetephil also makes a version for normal to oily skin:Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, Normal to Oily Skin, but I tend to get the sensitive skin formula, even though I do not have sensitive skin. There are fragrance free and bar formulations as well.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is another great, yet affordable product. This moisturizer is a great all purpose product that like the cleanser, comes in a generous size for the price. I tend to get dry spots on my legs as soon as the weather turns in the fall. I tried some of the Cetaphil moisturizer for that and it worked quite nicely. It was non-irritating and heavy on the moisture. It too is sold at a great price.

It is always nice when top products are easily to afford, so if in the market for a good cleanser of moisturizer, give Cetaphil some consideration!

MD Skin Care Moisturizer

Just a quickie review for today! When I purchased my Beauty Buyble, as part of the samples it included packet of MD Skincare Maximum Moisture Treatment. This is a pretty good all around facial moisturizer. It feels good, absorbs well, and contains a nice mix of antioxidant vitamins. The downside is that it runs around $45, which I think is a bit high, especially considering that it does not have any particularly expensive or trendy actives in it. If you are an MD Skincare fan, then this product seems perfectly good. But for a cheaper and also good quality day cream, check out the Lumene Products.

Review: Yu-Be Moisturizing Cream

I am working on an update to the look of Beauty and Fashion Tech, so there is just a quick review for today. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream, Original Japanese Formula is one of those products that I want to love, but unfortunately I don’t solely because of the smell. First, the good part: This intensive moisturizer, popular with outdoors people and which has had some very good press, generally does a good job. It provides great moisture, and when I tried it on some patches of very dry skin, I quite impressed. This stuff took care of some intensely flaky dry areas on my legs that normally nothing works well on. Unfortunately it also has a strong camphor smell that was a turn off for me, so I just don’t love it. For a super dry patch somewhere away from my face, I am happy with it, but I won’t use it on my hands or near my face. Of course if you like the smell of camphor, then you will likely love this stuff.

A Look at Kenzoki Skin Care

Previously, when I thought of Kenzo I thought of perfume, fashion, or handbags because that is the context I knew them in. But Kenzo also makes an interesting skin care line, Kenzoki and I recently had the opportunity to try a few of the products.

Kenzoki labels their line as “skincare that makes you feel good,” and it definitely succeeds. The products are based around plant water and fragrances that focus both on skin care needs and on a specific mood. There are four categories of products: Bamboo Leaf: Energizing; Ginger Flower: Euphoric; White Lotus: Relaxing; and Rice Steam: Sensual. I tried a night cream from the White Lotus line and two interesting products from the Ginger Flower line; a day cream and an eye cream that are meant to be chilled.

From the White Lotus line, I tried the Cosmic Cosmetic Cream, gentle night repair treatment. Not surprisingly, since Kenzo is a company that produces fragrances, this lightweight cream smells fabulous. The focus of the product is on soothing and moisturizing agents with a relaxing scent based on the fragrance of the white lotus flower. The cream absorbs quickly and is not at all heavy. It is listed as suitable for all skin types. The product felt nice and I liked the light fragrance, which was also boyfriend approved. The directions state to put it on for ten minutes and then remove using fingertips in a facial massage movement. So this is really more of a treatment product than a full overnight cream.

While I liked the Cosmic Cosmetic Cream just fine, I really loved the other two products that I tried from the Ginger Flower line, which have the unique attribute of being designed for use after being chilled.

The Vital-Ice Cream is a day cream that is a bit thicker and more luxurious than the night treatment that I tried. Because my skin is a bit dry, a thicker cream tends to be my preference, especially when it will be left on my face. This product is listed as best for normal to combination skin, but was also just about right for my slightly dry skin. Focusing on ginger plant water, the product has a nice invigorating scent, with a hint of floral and citrus. Recommended to be used chilled, I liked how it felt on the skin. I tried it later at room temperature and liked it fine that way as well, but I imagine that I will be using this in summer, especially after coming in from outside. The combination of chilled cream and invigorating scent was wonderful.

My favorite of the three is the Ice-Cold Eye Cream, also from the Ginger Flower line. I just love this stuff chilled. The product is a rich cream with the same light scent as the day cream. This a product that definitely makes sense to use cold. With a focus on moisturizers and depuffing/firming agents, the chilling of the product both adds extra punch to the process and feels really good. I’m a sucker for cool (temperature wise) products for the eyes, such a gels, and I really liked how this item felt when put on straight from the fridge. I also tried it at room temperature and it was fine, but I prefer it used cold . If you don’t mind keeping a product in your fridge, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

DHC Skin Care Part II

In the first installment of my DHC review, I looked at the Olive Essentials Set. In this installment, I review some of the other DHC products: Rich Moisture, Extra Nighttime Moisture, Concentrated Eye Cream, Eye Bright, Facial Scrub, and Q10 Cream. I will look at Velvet Skin Coat icon in a final installment later this week.

  • DHC Rich Moistureicon is a standard moisturizing lotion. I liked it fine, and don’t have much to say about it, other than I am not sure it justifies its $27 price tag. It simply was standard for me.
  • I liked DHC Extra Nighttime Moistureicon a bit better. This is a rich overnight cream with olive oil and sodium hyaluronate. With its $30 price tag, it moisturized for me just as well or even better than some much more expensive products. I would consider buying this after my current products run out.
  • DHC Concentrated Eye Creamicon is another one that I liked quite a bit. This thick eye cream did a great job moisturizing the under eye area, and my skin there looked and felt wonderful the next morning. This is another product that I might purchase.
  • DHC Eye Brighticon is a light gel with cucumber for cooling, caffeine for depuffing, and licorice for brightening. It felt nice on the skin and absorbed well. I am kind of a sucker for eye gels, so this adds yet another possible purchase to my list.
  • The DHC Q10 Creamicon seems pretty standard to me. I have never seen any real effect from using products with co enzyme Q, which advertises antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Obviously from a sample, it would be hard to say much about this one either. It felt fine, but whether it works or not would take much more time to decide. If anyone out there has tried it long term, I would be interested in hearing your results.
  • Finally, there is the DHC Facial Scrubicon. This is an apricot scrub that is pretty effective, but not quite as harsh as some other apricot scrubs that I have tried. It was OK for me, and I think fans of apricot scrubs would like it. But I still prefer the L’Oreal and the Spa Sciences products that I have been using for exfoliation.

Overall, I have been impressed with the DHC products that I have tried. They also have many other products that look interesting. Take a look at their website
icon for more information.

I also tried the Velvet Skin Coat and will cover that later this week in a post comparing it to Smashbox Photofinish.
