Urban Decay Glinda and Theodora Palettes

When I ran the Disney Marathon and Half Marathon a few weeks ago, the new Disney Movie the Great and Powerful OZ was being heavily advertised. I had no idea that Urban Decay was also involved with new palettes inspired  by Glinda and Theodora. I just ordered them, so I will have swatches and a review as soon as they arrive.

Now available are the Urban Decay Glinda Palette and the Urban Decay Theodora Palette. Each have 4 single shade eye shadow pots and 2 duo shade pots. As a bonus, they also have a travel size eye pencil and a lip color.  What I love about these are that they are in the build your own palette cases, so you can pop the shades out and put others in. Each case has an OZ theme. I have to admit that I am a closet OZ fan. I loved the books when I was a kid!

Here is the Urban Decay Glinda Palette, which has the following shades:   Tornado, Aura (iridescent white w/blue shift and iridescent white w/red shift), Magic, Illusion, Oz (gold shimmer w/gold glitter and silver shimmer w/silver glitter) and South.  Also included is an eye pencil in deep eggplant and a lip color in Glinda.

Next is the Urban Decay Theodora Palette with eyeshadow shades of Broken, Beware, Bewitch, West, Spell (black satin w/green and gold shimmer and gold metallic w/tonal glitter), and Jealous (pale green pearl and dark green pearl). The eye pencil with this one is black and the lip color is Theodora.

I loved the looks of these so much that I ordered both of them. Theodora will be great for some of my everyday looks, and Glinda looks perfect for spring. I love the looks of the lip colors as well. Urban Decay made me pretty excited with these new sets!

As I noted, I will have swatches, a review and more photos as soon as the new palettes arrive.

For now, you can get the palettes at UrbanDecay.com and they should be at Sephora soon as well.

Bare Minerals Eye Shadow

Below is a reader/guest review of Bare Minerals Eye Shadow, which happens to also be a personal favorite of my own! This review is of the loose shadow, but Bare Minerals also makes some excellent pressed shadows as well.

Bare Minerals Eye Shadows

When I started wearing makeup at 12 years old, I remember choosing whichever brand was the cheapest. Normally, it was eye shadow in a crazy shade of blue or purple. As I have gotten older, I have tried many different brands of makeup. My skin is extremely sensitive and I normally break out if I use a cheap brand of makeup. When using cheap eye shadow, my eyes would get swollen and bright red.

As I began going through various brands of makeup, I discovered Bare Minerals. Bare Minerals eye shadow is made of all natural materials. Because of the quality of the makeup, I have never had an allergic reaction to it. Even if I am being rather lazy and don’t wash it off, I have had no issues with it.

My favorite feature of the eye shadow is that it is completely customizable. Because it is in a loose powder, you can apply as much as you need to get the right look. I have been able to use the same eye shadow to provide a light day look and also a more sultry night look. They come in small containers, but the loose powder seems to last forever!

Because I am a busy mom, I need an easy makeup routine. Bare Minerals eye shadow allows me to quickly apply the appropriate amount of eye shadow. It takes me about 5 minutes every morning to do my makeup.

The color selection that Bare Minerals offers is also incredible. I am fairly conservative and choose colors that are light and also versatile. However, I have found some beautiful shades that can make a more bold statement.

My favorite place to purchase Bare Minerals is definitely at a Sephora Beauty Store. Sephora has trained consultants who can help you determine the best colors for your complexion and also lifestyle. They helped me pick shades that would easily go from morning to night.

As I have tried to take better care of my skin, I have decided that you get what you pay for. By investing in high quality eye shadow, I have been happier with my appearance and makeup.

MAC Cosmetics Archie’s Girls Sneak Peek Photo Links

MAC Cosmetics is releasing the Archie’s girls collection this spring. Being a big Betty and Veronica fan when I was younger (oh heck, I’m still a fan!) I’m excited about the collection! I will most certainly be buying a few items to review and swatch when it arrives. If anything I want a few items just for the cute packaging!

Update: Karen at Makeup and Beauty Blog now has excellent photos and Archie Girls swatches. Go see them here.  I plan to buy a few items and will swatch them as well when I get them, but you can see everything you need at Karen's site.

For now, you can get a tiny sneak peek of sorts from these twitter photos released by MAC. The first one doesn’t show the color, but it does let us know that there will be some eye shadow quad palettes involved, and it gives a sneak look at the packaging. See the photo here. The next shows what is believed to be the inside of a palette. See that one here.

Here are a few photos from the upcoming Archie’s Girls collection!
