The Worst Drugstore Makeup

I have been working for awhile on a series about the best drugstore makeup. So far, I have written on the Best Drugstore Eye Shadow and Best Drugstore Blush. In the works are features on lip products, foundation, powder, overall brand etc. Also popular has been the syndicated posts on the Best Drugstore Mascara and Best Affordable Foundation. So, I found it interesting to see this Total Beauty feature on the the worst drugstore makeup.

I haven't tried everything on the list, but I sort of agree with Maybelline Lash Stiletto. It gives an odd look, although some folks love it, and I didn’t necessarily hate it. The same with Revlon Lip Sugar. I actually kind of liked that one, but it did feel weird.

One I kind of disagree wit is Sally Hansen Lip Inflation. I am OK with that product. It isn’t the best plumper out there, but I didn’t find it to be sticky the way some total Beauty Readers did.

And what I totally agree with is the NYC gloss. That one is indeed a sticky mess!

The Best Sunscreens

With so many choices, finding the best sunscreen can be difficult. The following article, syndicated from Total Beauty, has some quality suggestions based on reader ratings.

I am a particularly big fan of the powder sunscreens such as the Peter Thomas Roth Powder Sunscreen and ColorScience Powder Sunscreen products included in the article. They tend to physically block UVA and UVB rays, which is preferable to chemical sunscreens because those break down over time, especially in the sun (go figure!). They also are a great way to reapply sunscreen over makeup. You can read my previous review of several powder sunscreens here: Top Powder Sunscreen.

I also particularly like the DDF sunscreen in the article. It is light and does not cause acne issues with me, which some other sunscreens do.

Lately, my favorites have been two items that are not in the article:  ARCONA Reozone 40, which is physical block SPF 40 sunscreen containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that works great with oily skin, and Physician’s Formula Healthy Wear, which has a nice tinted moisturizer and mineral power sunscreen combination.

Find The Best Deep Conditioner For Your Hair

I am a big deep conditioner fan. If you have color treated hair or dry hair, deep conditioning once a week or so can make all the difference in getting smooth silky hair. The article below, syndicated from Total Beauty, provides some great information on the best deep conditioners based on their reader’s rankings.

A couple of items on the list that I particularly agree with are the Aussie Three Minute Miracle, which is also incredibly affordable and available at your local drug or grocery store and Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat, which I think is the best for taming frizzies and creating smooth, straight looks. I love how soft it makes my hair feel too.  It too isn’t all that hard to find. You can read my previous review of the Redken Smooth Down Hair products here: Redken Smooth Down.

Although not on the list, I highly recommend protein treatments that include animal protein once every week or two as well. I use Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor, which is one of the few easy to find deep protein treatments. Note: Don't use protein treatments that contain animal derived protein more than once every week or so. They do great things for the hair in moderation, but too much use can weaken the hair over time.

There are also a bunch conditioners on the list that I haven't tried, and I suppose that I should! Anyway, take a look and see if you can find the best hair conditioner for you.
