Sephora Pantone Emerald Eye Look Tutorial

Here is a video tutorial on using the Sephora + Pantone Universe Shadow Box Eclipsed to create a soft smoky emerald eye look. This is perfect for anyone who loves the emerald shade and it would be great as a St. Patrick’s Day makeup look. Also included is a transcript of the video.

Video Transcript:

The Sephora Plus Pantone color of the year eclipse look diffuses color up to the center of the brow bones, giving this soft everyday smoky eye a futuristic feel. It's all about constraining color to the outer half of the eyes. Sweep the nude tones all over lids and along the lower lash lines with a dampened brush for a rich luminous face. Intensify the corners with a second layer.

Next, diffuse the emerald shade from the other corners to the center of the lids, brushing downwards at an angle. Deepen the lash lines by sweeping on the dark green shadow with a dampened brush, working outward from the center of lash line. Drag color around the edges and onto the bottom lash lines. dust on emerald shadow from above the middle creases to the edges, sweeping an extra flash of color along bottom lashes.

Finish with black mascara on the upper lashes.

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain and Balm Review

In my opinion, Revlon is usually the best source for quality drugstore lipsticks.  The last time I was at Target, I grabbed a couple of Revlon lip stain items to try: a Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain Pencil and a Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain Balm. Both are nice and they work pretty well together too.

Revlon Lip Stain Review

The Revlon Just Bitten stain is a standards lip stain with a pen applicator. I liked Just Bitten better when it came as a roller ball, but the pen does make application a bit easier. It lasts really well. I had a hard time washing the swatch off and it stayed on my lips for hours.  It comes with a balm on the opposite end to wear over the stain, or you could put a clear or colored gloss over it.

Revlon’s new Just Bitten Kissable lip stain balm is a crayon lip color that provides a moisturizing stain. I really liked this product for its combination of long wear and comfortable feel. It comes with a twist up tube, so there is no sharpening needed and there is lots of product.

Here are swatches. On the left is the Just Bitten Kissable balm in 005 Crush Begun and on the right is the Just Bitten stain in Frenzy

Here I am wearing the products. I put the stain on under the Kissable balm. That made for a nice, longwearing combo.

I also did a quick video review of the products. You can see that below.

You can get Revlon products at any drugstore or big box retailer, and at many grocery stores. Or, look for them here at Drugstore.com. They run around the $8-9 price range.

Darling Girl Cosmetics Swatches, Review, and Video

I am on a bit of an indie makeup kit and as part of my shopping, I decided to give Darling Girl a try. I picked up some ultra affordable samples and found some new favorites among them.

Darling Girl does fun packaging, and anytime I see Hello Kitty I am happy! So things were off on the right foot with this Hello Kitty tape!

My samples were all also wrapped in fun tissue paper. Little touches like this are things make me love the small indie brands all the more.

Darling Girl Eye Shadows

Below are outdoor swatches of the Darling Girl eye shadows that I received in the following shades: Sue Bell, Papercut, Jacks Lantern, Badtz Maru, Sultry Siren, No Sign of Life, Obviously a Wig, Deery Lou, Seawitch, Superstition, and Rose de Oro

These are the same shades inside.

The shadows applied very well both wet and dry. The swatches are done wet, but I used a few shades dry over Urban Decay primer potion just fine. The taupe Badtz Maru is a huge favorite of mine.

I also got a a couple of blush shades that are in the video, a gloss, and a tinted lip balm. The balm was the only disappointment for me. It was on the hard and dry side. Otherwise I was very happy with all the products.

Below, I am wearing Papercut, which is a green/purple duochrome, and a bit of Jack’s lantern . I blended it with a gold Fyrinnae shade (I think book of the dead). I’m wearing DaraZ lipgloss/stain in the shade Garnet with a matching DaraZ pencil on my lips. The shadow looked brighter than shows here. I can’t seem to get my camera to capture bright shadow shades as well as I would like.
