Exfoliate Your Lips

Just as skin benefits from exfoliation, so do lips. You can buy special lip scrubs or exfoliating balms, but there are several easy  DIY options as well. As Toni from ToniizBeauty notes, your toothbrush will suffice:

To exfoliate your lips, wet your toothbrush and gently rub on your lips.  The apply your favorite lip balm for soft lips!  This will also help your lipstick application to go on more smoothly.

Nicole Dantzler from Lipstick and Luxury agrees, stating:

After you brush your teeth, brush your lips! Brushing your lips wisks away the dry skin and leaves your lips ready for your favorite lip balm or gloss.

Or, try this sugar trick from Stephanie Louise Telford of Stephanie Louise- All Things Beautiful

Dry lips sneak up on you before a big event? Keep a packet of raw sugar handy. All you need is a touch of oil (or water in a pinch!) to create a super quick lip scrub. Apply it to your lips & rub gently in circular motions. Rinse it off & you’re done!

Use Sun Protection on Your Lips

Your lips can burn just as easily as your skin. In fact, wearing gloss can intensify the sun’s rays and make your lips even more prone to damage. Look for balms and glosses that contain sunscreen and apply those over your lipstick.

Use Conditioning Oils or Lip Balms

Lip balm is a staple that should be in every woman’s purse. It keeps lips soft and in condition and often can also provide sun protection. If you don’t care for balm and like a natural glossy look, try natural oils instead.  Victoria Girard from RevealGreatSkin.com uses coconut oil as a lip balm.
