Face Winter With This Skin Care Routine

Post sponsored by Mirum. Opinions are 100% my own.

Winter is here and it is in full force in my area. That means it is also the time of year when harsh winter weather can really dry out your skin. In my case, I am already prone to dry skin in winter and have also been very active outdoors as usual, which means that my skin is really taking a beating. I just finished the Hitchcock 50 miler in nine inches of snow and I am already training for spring events despite it being cold and snowy outside. So I am outside a lot!

I have ways that I deal with dry winter skin though, and Walgreen’s is also here to help with some great products and a 50% off special

Winter Skin Care Tips

I find that the key to keeping my skin in top shape in winter is to try to stay protected, stay hydrated, and stay moisturized. Exfoliation helps too.

Stay Protected: Keeping skin protected helps avoid dryness from the effects of harsh winter weather. Wear gloves and scarf outdoors and cover your skin as much as possible. When I exercise outdoors in winter, I often wear a buff pulled up over my mouth and nose. That keeps my cheeks from getting wind burned.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking a lot of water is important in winter to help keep yourself hydrated from the inside out. It can be easy to forget to take in fluids when exercising in winter because you don’t sweat as much. So focus on making sure that you drink plenty of water when exercising and also during the course of the day.

Stay Moisturized: This is where product selection comes into play. Choose moisturizing products and don’t forget to look for moisturizing cleansers that won’t further dry out the skin. Exfoliation is important too to help get rid of dry skin cells.

Three Great Products for Winter Skin Care

When it comes to products, here are three great ones for winter.

Simple Cleansing Wipes: I have used Simple Cleansing Wipes for years. They are perfect for sensitive skin, have no artificial perfumes or color, and no harsh chemicals. They have a perfect blend of vitamin goodness and gentle cleansers that refresh and nourish the skin, making them great for winter skin care.  They also remove waterproof mascara!

St. Ives Acne Control Face Scrub: Exfoliation is important in winter and, even with dry skin, I tend to be prone to acne. In fact, dryness can irritate skin and cause breakouts! This apricot scrub exfoliates, while also treating for acne. This gives a great surface for that all important winter moisturizer. I love how my skin feels after using this scrub.

Pond’s Dry Skin Cream: Pond’s has been around for years and it remains as good as ever! Pond’s Dry Skin Cream provides deep hydration for smooth, radiant skin. It is great for sensitive skin, won’t clog pores, and is hypoallergenic. I love how moisturizing it is, yet it does not feel greasy and it does not cause me to break out.

Pond’s Dry Skin Cream is still as rich and thick as ever.
