Dry Skin Solutions With AmLactin + A Giveaway!

Do you find that as you age your skin gets drier and drier? According to data from a 2015 national online survey of over one thousand U.S. women over the age of 18, nearly two-thirds of U.S. women report that the older they get, the more difficult it is to keep their skin moisturized. U.S. women also feel an average of six years older when their skin is dry and dull. Further, 56% of women report being just as concerned about the signs of aging from the neck down as they are about the signs of aging on the face.

I definitely have seen changes in my skin as I age. I remember 40 as generally being the turning point where I started routinely getting dry skin.  This happens because, as a person ages, the skin’s natural renewal cycle slows down.  This can cause dead cells to build up on the skin’s surface, giving it a rougher texture and dull appearance. Then, oil glands also become less active, and that makes it harder for the skin to retain moisture.  But all of this can be battled with the right products.

I have used Amlactin products for around a year now to address dry-skin issues.   What I love about Amlactin is that the products do double duty. They contain alpha-hydroxy acids to exfoliate and hydrating humectants and emollients to moisturize.   The products are dermatologist recommended and are fragrance free, which is rather important to me.  I prefer to keep fragrance out of products for dry skin. Here is a look at my favorites.

AmLactin Moisturizing Body Lotion: This is a nice all around body lotion that is great for preventing dry skin. I like to use it in the mornings after my shower and often again in the evening. I find that it is great for preventing dryness with its double duty action of lactic acid and moisturizers.

AmLactin Cerapeutic Restoring Body Lotion:  For rougher and drier skin, this formula is perfect. It includes three essential ceramides to relieve extreme dryness for 24 hours. Ceramides may decrease in the skin with age, so they are a great addition to the lotion. Plus, it works instantly! The lotion also has alpha-hydroxy acid for exfoliation. When I get dry patches of skin, I use this lotion twice per day. I find that it helps smooth out the rough spots and keeps my legs looking great.

AmLactin Ultra Hydrating Body Cream: This cream is good for spot treating particularly dry areas. It includes the patented Ultraplex formula for exfoliation and hydration and helps smooth out dry rough areas. I like to put it on specific dry spots, which I often get on my legs and elbows. It is very thick and creamy.

AmLactin Foot Cream: This is my favorite foot product. As a distance runner, I am constantly battling dry rough areas on my feet, and keeping my feet smooth is important for preventing calluses and blisters. The foot cream has the patented Ultraplex formula, and it gently exfoliates while also intensely hydrating the skin. If you wear heels, it is great for working on dry cracked areas.  I like to put it on thickly at night and then put on socks over it while it absorbs.

Overall, these are a great combination of products.  Because AmLactin products contains an alpha-hydroxy acid, it may increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunburn. So, be sure to use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using these products and for a week afterward. You should always be wearing sunscreen anyway! The products may cause stinging if used after shaving and if applied to cuts. Stinging should go away, but discontinue use if it does not.Amlactin products are not intended for use on the face. They also are not intended for young children.
