L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara

L’Oreal has come out with a very effective version of a “tube” type of mascara. If you are not familiar with how tubing works, it essentially coats the lashes all around and lengthens them in a manner that forms tubes around each lash. These tubes look like little strings when you wash off the mascara. Blinc Kiss Me Mascara (read previous review) is the original of this type and is wildly popular, although I wasn’t really crazy about it. I do like L’Oreal’s version quite a bit though.

L’Oreal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara(also see the product at Ulta.com) L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara is a two part system. First, a primer is applied, then a tubing mascara is applied over it. I am fundamentally lazy, so I get a bit annoyed by two part systems, especially if they aren’t really good. Fortunately, I found the L’Oreal Beauty Tubes mascara to be quite nice, so I didn’t mind the extra step.

L’Oreal Double Extension does a great job at lengthening. I got more length out of this mascara than any other that I have tried in the past several months. I also had few problems with clumping, and the mascara wore well–no flaking and such. It wears OK with contacts, but be careful about removing the mascara with your contacts still in because it removes in little strings.  I don’t think one of those in your eye with a contact lens in would be pleasant!

Overall, I was quite happy with this one. I like it better than Blinc Kiss Me Mascara. Plus, it is much cheaper and can be found at any drugstore. I highly recommend this one!

  1. I am always looking for the best mascara! Thanks for this…I just received some free makeup too that I am in love with by signing up for this Glamour Magazine gig…check it out to get some fab freebies! glamalert.com/glambassadors

  2. I was really intrigued by Blinc’s mascara when I first saw it at a show, but couldn’t bring myself to spend $25 for a tube of mascara. I bought the L’Oreal Double Extend instead, and was really happy with it for the first couple of days – then I noticed it was really drying my lashes out.

You’ll find that if you use Blinc’s Lash Primer (you’re doing 2 steps anyway if you’re using the Double Extend), you’ll have far less clumping because the primer will seperate and coat your lashes before applying the mascara. More importantly, it does so without those white fibers that can get in your eyes and irritate contact lense wearers.

The biggest difference (other than the drying of my eyelashes) I noticed between the two was the ease of removal. Although neither flaked or smudged, the Blinc comes off easily with a wet washcloth, I really had to work to get the L’Oreal off. I don’t know if it’s the tubes or the primer; I’m guessing it’s the primer. I should try using Blinc’s Lash Primer with L’Oreal’s mascara to see (which is not a practical solution unless you happen to have both lying around since you’re forced to get the L’Oreal primer with the mascara).

I did a comparison post here with pics showing my lashes with each primer, and with the mascara on. You can especially see the difference in the primers.

I have Loreal Lash extension mascara and I HATE IT…my eye lashes look like daggers. It clumps together. The primer is glue like that pulls off in long strings.
So I tried it without the primer,,,and the mascara still clumps together.
I hope other people have more success then I do. This product is not for me. Never before have i had this problem with ANY Mascara…

  4. Liked it at first but it is very hard to get off. I have lost several lashes and have bare spots. Just hopeing they come back soon. I tried with the primer and without and it was very hard to get off either way.

  5. I just had to stop using it. it realy does thicken and lengthen and look amazing! BUT when it washes off it has taken out many of my lashes. i am much thinner now in lash qty. than before. but the main thing is that i get annoying strings in my eyes.. like the white layer gets in my eye irritates all day, comes out as long gooey strings later. not worth it…

Very disappointed, I purchased the Double Extend about a month ago because I had a coupon for it. I first opened it today to use it and the step 2 tube was dried up. Of course with buying it a month ago, I do not remember where I purchased it and I don’t have the receipt anymore.I will not purchase another L’Oreal product.
