My Gratitude Diary

The Autumn 2022 Series. Part 3.

Waking up in gratitude really sets the tone for the day. This is not forced, it simply is. A feeling bursting from deep within, knowing it is a privilege to be alive and to have the power of choice to create the life I love. That same gratitude I give to myself, only you know what it takes to be you, the work it took to get to where you are today, to have the courage to show up daily as your authentic self unapologetically. To allow myself to fully step into all I have become, has been the greatest gift I have given myself this year. I want to fulfill the highest, truest expression of myself as a human being and I wish that for everyone. My Beauty Diary is part of my self expression, my love note to you and I want to tell you right now that I appreciate you. Today I ask you to join me in showing that love to your largest organ – the skin. Loving your skin means loving all that it represents – whatever shade of melanin – it’s an inside job as discussed in part 2Let’s compliment that work. As we enter plummeting temperatures here in NYC, it’s time to bring in the hardcore squad.

I have definitely noticed my skin screaming for more moisture lately and so I reached out for the models must have, (and a make-up artists essential at fashion week), Skinfood by Weleda. I have been using this rich cream for years, (I even brought it for my dad but well…let’s just say that relationship didn’t work out). The beauty of this moisturizer is that it works as a primer under make-up and it is a barrier against freezing temperatures. The result is an iridescent glow in the middle of winter. In fact it is my must have for traveling as I can use it on my hands, cuticles, feet, elbows, anywhere that needs an extra boost of moisture and I love the fresh smell. This iconic cream, which was initially launched back in 1926, is my absolute go to for combating dry skin.

I have mentioned Hyaluronic Acid Serum by Reviva Labs previously and that is because it is a supreme product that hydrates and plumps the skin effortlessly, creating a flawless canvas to build upon. I apply this serum on clean, slightly damp skin and even use it on my décolletage when wearing a plunging neckline. It is perfect for traveling and a few pumps when I land after a long haul flight gives my skin that extra boost it needs. This is part of my essential squad whatever the season.

After the serum, I add Skinfood and then The Essentials Moroccan Argan Oil by Acure. I love multi purpose products and I use this on my face and around my eyes (puffiness, bags, fine lines, argan oil smoothes it out). My skin drinks up this vitamin A and E rich oil with omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids as they improv elasticity and further increase hydration. For those with skin conditions like eczema and for those prone to acne, this oil has anti inflammatory effects and can help regulate your skins natural oil production which can prevent and treat acne. Again, superb for traveling as it doubles as a hair oil.

skin checkI recently started using Moisture Rehab, makeup removing wipes, by Pacifica with rose and coconut. I have to say they are so easy to use after a long day and great at removing even the most waterproof eye make-up. I usually use coconut oil to remove my eye make-up but these are a great option and my skin feels very soft afterwards. I still use a cleanser and I love cleansing oils and balms. One I have used on and off for a few years is the Cleansing Oil by Mad Hippie with ginger, organic rose-hip and pumpkin seed oil. My ultimate favorite is the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm that i first discovered after a facial in Italy and it is in a league of it’s own. A nourishing cleansing balm that leaves my skin beautifully clean and glowing.

I know for myself it gives me tremendous joy to pamper and nourish my skin. When we look good, we feel good. Stay loved up.

  1. The rose and coconut makeup removing wipes sound lovely. I am really naughty and often forget to remove my makeup. I would also love to try out some new moisturisers.

  2. I couldn’t agree more with the skin needing some extra moisture. My skin always suffers so badly in the winter! The cleansing balm sounds good.

  3. Agreed…a wonderful mindset to start the day off with. I think when we make a list each day of the things we are grateful for especially during times of distress, it can help put things into perspective and soon it becomes a habit to look for the good rather than focusing on the negative.

  4. You skin looks absolutely flawless and your tips are amazing as well. Nothing like a good mindset and a good beauty routine to get me ready for the day

  5. your skin. looks flawless, always open to any tips and tricks, yes. stating the day off with a good mindset does wonders for the day!
