My Steps for Dry Eye Relief

This is a sponsored post written on behalf of Rohto. All opinions are my own.

I write about my distance running a fair amount and have mentioned a number of times that I am preparing for my first 100-mile trail race. It is coming up fast in three weeks! Part of the challenge of running trails is that it is often dry, windy, dirty, and gritty. I tend to have dry skin and also dry eyes.  Here is a look at one of my favorite running places from this summer at Indiana Dunes State Park. That is a lot of sand, wind, and sun, which doesn’t help my dry skin and eyes!

Running trails can at times aggravate dry eye. Dry eye symptoms can keep sufferers from enjoying daily activities and can impact performance at work, at school, and during sports.  It also can affect appearance. But I don’t let dry eye keep me from running. Instead, I address the problem in a couple of ways. Here some things that you too can do to address dry eyes.

Wear Sunglasses and a Hat

Wearing sunglasses not only helps protect my eyes from UV rays, they also help keep the wind, dirt, and grit from getting in and making my eyes drier.  By wearing a hat, my eyes are further shaded, and I avoid sweat dripping into my eyes, which can be irritating since sweat tends to be quite salty.

Drink Plenty of Fluids

Staying hydrated is always important and it is even more so when you suffer from dry eye.  I carry my hydration vest with me when I run in order to assure that I take in plenty of liquids.  I also use electrolyte tablets and try to eat lots of juicy fruits and vegetables, especially on long run days. I can also easily carry eye drops such as Rohto Dry-Aid in my vest.

Use Rhoto Dry-Aid

Rhoto Dry-Aid is an easy to use and effective eye drop for dry eye relief. With the issue of dry eye on the rise, Rohto, developed Dry-Aid as a unique breakthrough, non-blurry tear repair formula, clinically shown to provide longer lasting relief vs. the leading brand. Unlike other over-the-counter dry eye drops that only work on one layer of the tear film, Rohto Dry-Aid is formulated with Liquidshield technology that works in a unique way to restore moisture to the tear film by working on all three layers to mimic a stable natural tear. New Rohto Dry-Aid helps to restore the natural tear film in order to create a uniform moisture shield that is clinically shown to provide superior comfort and soothe dry eyes for up to 12 hours. This helps dry eye sufferers enjoy their daily lives. The product effectively addresses 5 key symptoms of dry eye: dryness, irritation, grittiness, burning and stinging.  It is fast-acting, refreshing, and non-blurring. In a clinical study, Rohto Dry-Aid delivered consistent and continuous relief over time and was rated highly for its refreshing feeling while delivering significant improvements in quality of life. It is currently available at major retail locations where over-the-counter dry eye drops are sold and online at the Rohto website

For daily-use and before long runs I can simply use Rhoto Dry-Aid before I leave the house. For races over 12 hours, such as my 100 miler race, the bottle is small and easily tucks in a pocket of my hydration vests.  So, dry eye doesn’t have to keep me from doing what I love, and it doesn’t have to stop you either!
