Respect Your Feet: Foot Care Tips With Amopé

I am a distance runner. As in really, really long distances of marathon length (26.2 miles) or ultra marathons (anything longer than 26.2).  So, foot care is important to me and I am always collecting foot care tips.  Here I am finishing the Missoula Marathon last year.

As a result of all that running, my feet are usually in pretty terrible shape. In particular, I get a lot of calluses and, if I don’t keep them at bay, they will lead to blisters on long runs.  That is where Amopé comes in. It is a great item to make part of your overall foot care routine, whether you are a runner or not. So, here is my foot care routine. If you are a runner, you might be particularly interested, but really it is a great routine for anyone to follow.

A Solid Foot Care Routine:  Exfoliation, Moisture, and Nail Care

There are essentially three keys to happy, healthy feet: Keeping them free of dry skin and calluses, Keeping them moisturized to protect against new callus formation, and keeping your nails in good shape.

For exfoliation, the new Amopé Pedi Perfect will remove calluses quickly and easily without all the manual scrubbing you would have to do if using something like a pumice stone.  The Pedi Perfect is a handy little gadget with a spinning head. All you need to do is move it along your rough and dry areas and let it do its work.

The Amopé Pedi Perfect fits nicely in your hand and is easy to store. Here is a photo that gives a better idea of its size.

From there, Amopé comes to the rescue again for moisturizing.  You can pair the Pedi Perfect with the new Amopé foot cream for even softer, healthier feet. Moisture is an important aspect of foot care, especially for runners and other athletes, because soft feet are a lot less likely to callus and blister in the first place. High heel fans take note that this is true for you too! By keeping the feet soft, you are less likely to end up with dry, cracked heels or blisters from your shoes rubbing.

The final step in my foot care routine is nail care. I keep my toenails trimmed short to prevent issues with them hitting my shoes when I run and I keep the area around the toenail cuticles extra moisturized. The Amopé  Pedi Perfect foot cream is good for that too.

You can find the Amopé products in the foot care aisle at Target. At my store, that was in the Pharmacy section.

  1. Congratulations on your marathon! I’ve been running for 30 years and wrote my dissertation on exercise addiction, but I could never do a marathon. Jealous. I saw a commercial for Amope on TV and read a couple of other reviews, and I want the Pedi Perfect!

  2. I have a slight marathon addiction. Gotta run a few each year and squeeze in an ultra or two as well if possible. Right now I’m training for the Disney Dopey challenge (4 days: 5k, 10k, half, full). Then I’ll be trying to qualify for Boston in the spring. I’ve been working toward that for a couple years now.

  3. Wow, you are amazing, Carleen! My old body can’t manage more than a couple of miles a day at this point. I am in awe that you are an ultra-marathoner! Just great! I hope you do run Boston this year. I should get into town to cheer for you and my cousin, Steve, who runs every year.

  4. Whoa, I have mad respect for you for running marathons. I can barely get through a mile haha! I’ll be sure to check this out, the cold weather is wreaking havoc on my feet

  5. Way to go with the marathon! I could use a good pedi though. My heels are causing major calluses on my feet.
