I love my new house, but the bathroom lighting is not great for makeup application. Plus, my counters are large and I can’t get as close to the mirror as I would like. So, I was more than happy to test out the MelodySusie Narcissus 2-in-1 LED Mirror Lamp. This is a nice counter-top makeup mirror that also has the neat feature of acting like a regular lamp.
The MelodySusie Narcissus Mirror Lamp has a makeup mirror on the front that is framed by an LED ring. This gives a shadowless light source from every angle. The mirror itself also can be angled as desired. Through extensive testing, the company set a light color temperature of 6500K, which is comparable to midday sunlight – a light that is often considered to be the best for makeup application. Since normal indoor lighting is often warmer, it can be hard to get an accurate idea of what makeup truly looks like if specialty lighting is not used. So having a thoughtfully designed lighted makeup mirror is rather beneficial for good makeup application. The mirror operates with 4 AAA batteries.
The light itself is just about the right brightness. It is bright enough to assist with makeup application but yet is comfortable to use. It won’t blind you like some makeup mirrors can do. At first, I felt it was a bit dim, but after using it a few times I decided it was just about right. I simply was used to the almost overwhelming brightness of the last lighted mirror that I had been using.
Now, here is the neat bonus feature. The Narcissus makeup mirror can be easily converted into a table lamp with modes for reading and for use as a night-light. The mirror does this through lighting from the back. You can also flip the mirror up for a lamp-like look. I find the nightlight setting to be quite useful and have taken to leaving it on in the bathroom at night. The mirror also has a round base that can be used as a tray for organizing jewelry or accessories. I think the mirror looks good as well. One more bonus, the mirror is under $40!
