Body Beauty Essentials

Following my Fall beauty Essentials I am now sharing my Body Beauty Essentials. So let’s work our way down the body…

emma purveyA must have, whatever the season, are body scrubs. They are a quick and effortless way to get your skin silky smooth. I’ve tried many different scrubs and the following stand out. Surprisingly I am currently loving Trader Joes Lavender Salt Body Scrub. I say surprisingly, as who would have known Trader Joes has this hidden gem! It locks in the moisture, leaving my skin baby soft. My mum and I have been fans of Origins Ginger Body scrub for years. Definitely one of my all time favorites. I also like Alba Botanica Hawaiian body polish.

I have found that I am leaning towards body oils. However, I recently discovered Bodi-Licious 100% Raw Shea Butter Delux in Mango. It replenishes lost moisture, nourishes the skin, naturally has an SPF-6 and smells great. Looks like I will be smelling of mango. As mentioned in my Fall Beauty Essentials, Sibu beauty have a moisturizing body cream that is certainly worth trying. I find that Weleda Skin Food has become a staple during the intense East Coast winter. I also use it on my face. I have always liked Dr.Hauschka body moisturizers, they feel great and Alba Botanica Hawaiian Body Cream.

Body oils tend to absorb more effectively. My favorite are Alba Hawaiian body oil in Kukui nut and Solar Recover, Save Your Body & Mind bath and massage oil. Speaking of massage, this has to be one of the most rewarding investments for your skin tone and an effective way to combat cellulite. I am a serious fan of massage. The benefits are just as numerous internally as externally.

Let’s talk coconut oil. I keep Natures Way organic Coconut Oil in my fridge year round now. It has a multitude of uses! I actually use it as a body moisturizer after a shower before bed, when I am not traveling. I also use it as an intense face moisturizer in the colder months and as a leave in hair treatment. I love to wrap my hair in a towel and step into the steam room. Definitely a perk of being a member at Equinox gym. I will talk in more detail about the benefits of exercise for your skin in my next beauty essentials.

For on the go I like balms and I carry Badger cuticle cream in my bag (also great for flying). It works for the hands and feet. We walk a lot in NYC and our feet need extra pampering.

And don’t forget to drink filtered water; your internal moisturizer. Shine bright this season with glowing skin from head to toe.

All products mentioned are available at your local WholeFoods, Origins.com, and Traderjoes.com

  1. Great post! I have a lot of coconut oil at home in my pantry (even better now that a Trader Joe’s has opened up in my city) but I haven’t quite gotten used to using it in my beauty routines.

  2. I love some of the TJ’s body care products. The Pumpkin body butter they have in the fall is fantastic. That body oil sounds great too!

  3. Ooo! I need to get down to TJ’s and pick up that scrub. I haven’t tried any of their beauty, yet.

    You installed Disqus! *muah!*

  4. Thank you for all your comments. I absolutely love hearing from you. If you are still thinking about organic pure and unrefined coconut oil, I can not recommend it enough. It is absolutely amazing!! Try it!

  5. Awesome stuff! Emma, what inspired you to start using cuticle cream on more than just your nailbeds? I never would have thought of that!
