Summer 2022 My Beauty Diary Series. Part 1 – I love my skin.

My Beauty lovers. For those enjoying summer with me right now, this is my favorite season. I love the freedom of summer, less clothes, the sun kissing my skin, the light nights, summer just feels sexy. So let’s keep our skin sexy. In the first edition of this series I am sharing a few basics that are the foundation to staying healthy and hydrated so that our largest organ can thrive all summer.

Before I begin I have to use my platform to stand up for what I believe in. My beauty Diary is about the empowerment of women first and foremost. Body autonomy is how we stay empowered. It is the absolute foundation to living in a democracy. I understand this is a sensitive subject, however when I talk about freedom I have to acknowledge that women and girls in America right now do not share that basic human right. Their rights have been violated by the supreme court and so you will find ways to make a difference in the directory at the end of My Beauty Diary. For now I want every single girl and woman reading this who feels alone to know you are absolutely not alone. I live in NYC and we love you and we’ve got your back here.

Now back to our skin. I set a goal at the beginning of the year to drink one gallon of mineral water daily, I am now consistently achieving that. As a result I feel more energized and I see the difference in my skin, it just looks more hydrated. Drinking enough is especially important for those not used to the heat and right now in England, my original home, they are having their hottest temperatures on record and they are simply not used to it and not equipped for it (no air conditioning for example). My water hacks consist of the super beauty food chia seeds (add them to the water and put the jug or glass in the refrigerator and let the seeds swell up to a gel consistency and drink). I also like squeezing fresh lime into my water, it tastes so refreshing and lime is packed with vitamin C. Lime and chia seeds together have the added benefit of detoxing by giving a boost to your digestion and by improving bowl movement. Also great for your protein intake, inflammation and even weight loss. A rewarding way to drink more water I say.

A habit I started a few years ago now and one that I have shared previously is dry brushing. I am adding this to ‘my summer basics’ because I see a transformation in my skin tone and feeling good in our skin creates confidence and self confidence creates happiness. Every morning before my shower I dry brush in circular motion from my feet towards my heart and then on my arms also. Dry Brushing benefits by exfoliating dead skin cells, improving skin texture and increasing muscle tone which gives the appearance of smoother skin, the lymphatic support improves the immune system and promotes healing. I can say from my dry brushing experience I feel invigorated every morning by this action and I see a huge improvement in my skin tone and my skin is soft even before I use my daily body moisturizer.

Let’s talk sunscreen. Non negotiable for everyone and vital for keeping skin healthy. I recently discovered SuperGoop. Glow up with the GlowScreen and my now favorite face protector. It is SPF 40 and a daily primer that leaves my skin dewy and with a glow that blends well with foundation or a tinted moisturizer. It gives supreme hydration and I will be using this all summer. I also used the Glow Oil and my skin was sparkling. With an SPF 50 it works hard and blends effortlessly. I still love Mychelle Dermaceuticals sunshield SPF 28 for my face and décolletage (on those days I don’t want that extra glow) and they now have a Sun Shield Liquid SPF 50 in different shades and so I will be checking this out. I find when drinking enough water my lips stay hydrated, however when I use organic coconut oil on my body I still rub a little on my lips. I am a lover of the Tata Harper ‘Lovely’ for cheeks and lips. It is actually my favorite lip balm tint in the world, my lips look soft and sexy and it is just a touch of color. Also their Anti Aging Lip Treatment is great for dry lips, it keeps lips very hydrated and smooth. I like to use their Hydrating Floral Essence which is a hyaluronic acid face mist and feels incredible. I spray this throughout the day just to refresh, it feels especially good when working. Tata Harper is my favorite skincare hands down, their integrity, superior quality and how they run their company is a joy to purchase from and support.

I hope you enjoyed my summer skin basics. Stay loved up and be kind to yourself and others. I love you.
