In My Skin-Part 3 of My Beauty Diary Spring 2022 series

In the final installment of this spring 2022 series for My Beauty Diary I am sharing skincare that keeps me camera ready. The hard working products I can rely on for nourished skin and that pop pow glow. If you missed How I Move or I Love Your Hair please enjoy reading them first, so that you can fully appreciate In My Skin.

In America it is Mothers Day this weekend and the commercialism of these holidays can be overwhelming as every company wants you to buy that perfect gift. May I remind you that showing love is a spontaneous and continuous action. For those who do not have a mother in their life, I want to tell you that you are not alone. You are so loved and you are enough. I hope this series is a gentle reminder of the power of self love and how that is the greatest love you can ever experience. That self love is your inner glow that radiates through every single pore, it is the foundation to how you show up in this world. We are taught self love and self worth through our mothers actions and if a mother does not know how to self love, then how can she teach that to her daughter. In My Skin explores daily self love habits that allow you to glow in your self worth. So this mothers day, whether you get to celebrate with your birth mother, chosen mother, mother figure or your own child, know that how you love yourself, is how you show others love. That is powerful. That is the power of love.

Let’s show this love to our skin; our protective barrier. Loving up our largest organ feels so good. Massaging body lotion into my skin is a loving ritual I enjoy every morning and as I savor my own touch, I can feel my skin drinking the (unrefined) organic coconut oil in gratitude. I smile as I watch my hydrated, smooth skin reflecting back at me in the mirror. I also sometimes use coconut oil at the end of the day to remove make-up. The antibacterial properties and hydrating fatty acids are beneficial for washing ones face. Known as oil-cleansing, massage the coconut oil into your skin before washing it off. Side note – a great eye make-up remover and eyelash conditioner.

I have mentioned my absolute love of microdermabrasion facials previously (think deep clean, small pores, resurfacing, glow glow glow). Well, I discovered a fabulous product by Mad Hippie called Microdermabrasion Facial, which created a flawless glow. While not a substitute for the real thing, it certainly is a fantastic option for an at home spa experience. I saw the difference in my skin-tone immediately. Mad Hippie creates beautiful products that work. Another favorite I use is their Cleansing Oil, it is so gentle on the skin and removes make-up effortlessly and is bursting with incredibly high quality ingredients. My skin feels so clean and soft after using this oil and I have used this in hot and cold climates.

One of my favorite, ‘I can’t live without’, products is by Youth To The People. Their 15% Vitamin C Clean Caffeine Energy Serum even has my esthetician asking me what I am using. This is my pop pow glow in a bottle. The price tag is up there I know, think quality over quantity, as with everything you pay for what you get. What makes this supreme is the 15% vitamin C content. This formula is great for us sensitive girls and penetrates deep into the skin, boosting collagen, reducing hyperpigmentation, and protecting skin from free radicals. I actually had the girls at my local Sephora ask what I am using and so I directed them to this serum, role reversal. Superfood ingredients that are combined with the vitamin C include anti-oxidant rich passion fruit and dragon fruit (yummy) for skin health and moisture. The serums key hydrator, Squalane really locks in the moisture. The other star ingredient is Caffeine, (coffee lover smile), derived from yerba mate and guavas, this increases microcirculation to help the depuffing process. The result is a glow like I have never seen before. For the sensitive skin around our eyes, I am using their Dream Eye Cream. My eyes are a dream with this incredibly hydrating overnight eye cream that firms and smoothes with Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and squalene. I have to mention their remarkable Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Aswagandha and Reishi (ingredients I take as supplements also). My skin literally drinks this up. This exceptional hydrating moisturizer with superior plant extracts and a pro-grade peptide complex is formulated for dry, reactive and sensitive skin and it works wonders. I will be using this as the season is still unpredictable here in NYC and my skin feels dry on the cooler days and needs extra moisture.

I have used Tata Harper for years now and it is hands down one of my all time favorite skincare brands. Their story is a dream. Tata and Henry Harper founded Tata Harper Skincare on their 1,200 acre organic farm in the Champlain Valley of Vermont. A vertically integrated company, which means that every step of their production process from product conception to shipping, is done on the farm. This even includes growing some of their ingredients in their own garden. I have used their Resurfacing Mask since it launched and I can not recommend this mask enough. It remains my all time favorite mask to this day. It is a glow-giving treatment that instantly restores radiance to skin. My skin is so even toned afterwards and it creates a flawless canvas for make-up. Other products I use include; their Resurfacing Serum which transforms dullness with a combination of 5 AHAs and 2 BHAs that slough off dead skin cells to give you a healthy looking glow. The antioxidants help to fight the effects of free radicals that can diminish your glow. I also swear by their refreshing Hydrating Floral Essence. I spritz this whenever my skin needs a little boost, on the plane, on the go in NY, after the gym, at home even. It moisturizes and plumps with hyaluronic acid and natural humectants and it smells so fresh. These green, glass bottles with their lux gold lids sit elegantly in the bathroom. Let’s spritz and glow together…..ahhhhh I am feeling refreshed and ready for the warmer weather.

May you all feel loved up as we blossom like spring, sharing our beauty with this world.
